Au pair wanted from January in countryside!

Postby moving! » Tue Oct 06, 2015 2:50 pm

We are a happy family of four (two children age 6 and 2 ½) currently living in London. By January we will be in the countryside however! We would love an au pair to start in January to help us with the smooth running of our household and to get to know our new area with us. We need someone trustworthy, reliable, organised and a non-smoker who will care for our children. You must have a good level of English. Perfect English is not essential! Experience looking after children is a huge bonus.

The most important thing is that you have a bond with my children: 2 ½ year old lovely daughter and a happy and fun 6 year old boy. In addition, you will be patient and light-hearted, find interesting and creative ways to play, and be able to take initiative. Our children are happy and (usually!) well behaved (sometimes loud!) and have a great relationship with each other. You will have your own double room, shared bathroom, wifi internet access, TV with DVD, desk etc.

Start date January 2016. We would like someone who can commit to a minimum of 6 months but preferably longer.

Our 6 year old son goes to school and our 2 1/2 year old daughter will attend a local nursery part time. I work part time (2 1/2 days a week) so we need an extra pair of hands to help with childcare and household duties mostly while I am working. The person we select will need to be proactive and have a genuine love of children. At the beginning the children will be settling into their new school and nursery so an understanding, kind and organised person is essential!

Near our new beautiful village there are a lot of country walks, a small local country pub and a small town nearby (Princes Risborough). There is a train to central London (37 minutes) and there are other smaller nice towns nearby (Thame, High Wycombe, Oxford). We would love to get to know the area alongside our au pair and there are lots of Facebook groups for au pairs to meet up. You will have the use of a car.

Childcare duties
• Help get the children dressed and ready for school
• Look after our daughter while my son is at school, including thinking of fun activities.
Take our son to school/pick him up from school (likely to be two days a week).
• In the holidays our son will not be at school so he will be around more. He is also fun to be around! (again this is usually 2 1/2 days a week).

Basic Duties

• Help with washing/ hanging out of children’s laundry.
• Tidying the children’s bedrooms when required.
• Changing the children’s beds once a week
• Babysitting sometimes twice per week, once during the week and once at the weekend .
Ironing

Kitchen:
• Help clear away after breakfast
• Prepare/ cook/ heat up supper for the children and lunch for our daughter (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday).

Although you will have a busy schedule there is also plenty of free time . You will have the weekends to yourself unless by exceptional prior arrangement. You will undertake a maximum of 25 to 30 hours a week, excluding the two nights of babysitting.

A non smoker is ESSENTIAL as well as a trustworthy driver. We don’t have any pets at the moment!
