Marmalade Caterpillar V Balham Montessori

Postby Bovril » Wed Jul 06, 2016 12:28 pm

Does anyone have any thoughts either way on these two options? My gut feeling is that there probably isn't a bad pick out of the two as I think they both look great. But, would be really interested to hear any opinions.

Hi, are you referring to the Montessori on Chestnut Grove?

My son has just left Marmalade Caterpillar as he is going to school in September. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is a wonderful nursery with caring, experienced staff and fabulous teaching and pastoral care. If you read the latest Ofsted report and I it is a very accurate reflection. My daughter was at a different nursery (I won't name it but not the Montessori) and there is no comparison.

I have no experience of the Montessori but have heard good things about it. As you say I think you have two good options.

Both my children attended the Montessori in Balham (my younger son is about to leave at the end of this term :| ). My older son started at the nursery in 2010 and I cannot say I have had one bad experience in the last 6 years! It is an absolutely wonderful nursery - the staff are amazing and they have very few staff changes. They are extremely warm and caring and they have gently encouraged both my children in areas of becoming more independent and develop their numeracy and literacy skills. They teach the children in small groups (groups of 4 or 5 when they first start) and although they don't have much outdoor space they still do physical activity in form of gym and ballet. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Sounds like if you have places at both nurseries you won't be disappointed by either. Good luck making a decision and please PM me if you need any further info.
