Nurseries for 18mo old

Postby Cricri » Tue Jan 24, 2023 2:26 pm

Hello,

We will be moving to the area soon and I need to register our baby to nurseries, but as we are new to the area we feel a bit lost. Which ones is it worthy looking at?

Ideally between the Commons or closer to Clapham South as it would be easier with our commute. Our son will join from September and he’ll be 18 months then.

I have also heard some schools (like Dolphin) offer nursery too, and wondering if it’s worth it.

Thanks in advance!

It really depends on if you mean a day nursery which is for childcare, i.e open 7.30/8.00 am until 6/7 pm, year round, or a nursery school (term time only, shorter sessions, more like a pre-school than daycare).

If you need a daycare type nursery, there are a few in the area, Bright Horizons, Northcote House etc, but I haven’t had recent experience of them, only a while ago so probably wouldn’t be fair to comment.

If it’s a nursery school- you might need to ring around a few places as they might have waiting lists, but Mouse House, Broomwood Montessori, Marmalade Cat or Marmalade Bear, 345 etc all anecdotally great.

Thanks for the reply! I meant the former (early morning to late afternoon care), as I am planning to go back full time. I am familiar with Bright Horizon, will give a look at Northcote House.

Our son is at apple and honey in Nightingale
Lane and he’s very happy there.
It’s a lovely nursery With amazing grounds and outdoor space, and they run inter generational activities with the nursing home.
