Hi all
After 10years of allowing L-shaped loft conversions (ie the box room over the outrigger on victorian terrace properties) under permitted development, Lambeth council have just recently decided to STOP allowing such conversions!!!
This is starting to have huge ramifications across the borough, with those having built these conversions subject to enforcement orders to take them down, even if their neighbours have the EXACT SAME extension.
This is also creating a 2-tier housing market...with those houses lucky enough to have had the extension worth CONSIDERABLY more than those without, who now are unable to add the extra space.
This move is completely against the National Planning Policy framework, and contrary to what is still acceptable in other borough such as Wandsworth!
A group of local residents who have had this work carried out, to the exact same specifications of their neighbours, are now being told to take it down at a huge personal cost ... this could also affect you!
One of said residents has just created a petition for the council to allow these conversions under planning permission, as is the case in Wandsworth - and is hoping to get as many signatures as possible!
Please do help the group out by signing the petition:
