Hi - without wanting to scupper any potentially wonderful encounters between pooches and part time carers, just wanted to alert anyone looking for dog care that both Wandsworth and Lambeth are currently reviewing their animal welfare permit parameters.
This is in the wake of the horrific death of the young dog walker in Caterham last month. Anyone walking four or more dogs needs to have (& pay for) the correct licence and permits and most responsible dog walkers/boarders should also be able to show you fully comprehensive insurance?
Please make sure you check out the premises where your family pet will be housed during the periods that you can't care for them. Do also bear in mind that you will have no control whatsoever over the pack mentality if you are leaving them with a walker/carer who is looking after several animals at the same time? We found this out to our cost not long ago?
Again, sorry to strike a negative note, but the potential for injury - and worse - to your beloved pet is significant, particularly if the council has, for whatever reason, not given your chosen walker the appropriate permits? Good luck!
