Thanks we are still looking for more recommendations.
Some of the companies already mentioned have been so bad at getting back to us that it doesn't get things off to a good start.

Hi LP73,

Another way of getting recommendations is to walk around your area and see what are the building companies your neighbours are using, these recommendations speak for themselves as they have been contracted. You can knock on your neighbours doors and ask how they are getting on with the builders, as bold as this may sound if the clients are happy with their work they are happy to recommend and don't mind you asking.

When we had our scaffolding up for our loft conversion we had loads of people knock on our door and ask how it was working out, it has been 2 years and our builders are working on the 7th house on our street (unfortunately they do loft conversions and other works but not basement conversions so not a good fit for your job).

Feel free to contact my husband Dermot who owns a small building company, Dermarta. Him and his team have recently completed a basement project so he could email you some photos.

Hi Guys - On the subject of basements, does anybody have recommendations for architects that may take on the design aspects of a project after the dig out and steelwork has been completed but the waterproofing and interior design needs to be taken to completion? I know this is a difficult ask to find someone to take on a project midway so if anybody has experienced a similar situation I would be grateful for advice. Thanks.

Hi LP37 and Kangaroo,

I am just in the process of setting up as a local quantity surveyor/project manager. I have experience of a range of construction projects in central London and am now looking to set up more locally. If either of you would like to discuss your projects and how best to procure/deliver them and the processes involved please get in touch.

Many thanks
