Stay away from Honeywell. It's not the school it used to be, for all kids but even more so for SEN kids. It's awful now. My friend has her ASD daughter in Ravenstone and speaks very highly of them. Seems like the best school in the area these days

Just to clarify - we are ex Honeywell so have direct experience of the school (shocking) and we have now moved our high functioning ASD daughter private. We didn't know about Ravenstone being so good then

My ASD child is at Belleville and has done very well there. They like the routine and structure, the staff have been fantastic. They do have an EHCP though which means there are staff to facilitate movement breaks and interventions. HOWEVER, as previous posters have said, it is a big, busy and at times noisy school (my child is at the Webbs site) - on paper there is no way this should work for my child but it actually has. Appreciate though that for many ASD children this would be less than ideal!

Thanks so much. I think we’ve narrowed our search to Ravenstone, Smallwood and Swaffield. If anyone knows of SEN provision in these schools please do let me know. Huge thankyou.

My ASD son in thriving at Honeywell, having moved from Belleville, which was awful for him.

If you have an EHCP then that will help him get the support he needs. I looked at Ravenstone and Sacret Heart when moving my sons school. I was impressed with both.

Honeywell is also great, and they do have a sensory circuit at the beginning of the day, which will help your child.

Good luck

Curly - we know each other. I believe your son has ADHD and not ASD? Very different

Thankyou, such helpful comments. We’re looking at Swaffield, hillbrook and Alderbrook next week too if anyone knows of those settings?

It’s so incredibly hard to decide. Just fearful of getting it wrong. A massive thankyou again to you all for sharing your thoughts.

I really liked the senco I met at ravenstone and really believed in her program there- calm down room, zones, and what seems like a well thought out curriculum. There are other reasons it didn’t fit for our daughter. I believe the senco is on maternity leave though so not sure who has filled her position.

Also have heard nothing but rave reviews about Smallwood. A dear friends daughter is there, but her needs are far beyond asd.

Is this a choice with the council? Are you working out a placement request for your ehcp?

It’s not wandsworth, but our daughter attends blossom House in motspur park. It was hell getting the council to pay for it but she’s thriving there.

Commonsmum, thankyou and I’m so pleased to hear your daughter is thriving. I’m working on the EHCP route, and putting in a parental request to assess.
