Wood bifolding doors

Postby claphamama » Tue Apr 26, 2016 12:46 pm

Hi, we are looking to install wood bifolding doors in our new extension and currently considering http://www.cedarbifoldcompany.com/ and http://www.idsystems.co.uk/. I would love to hear your experience with either or if you have any alternative to recommend. We are limited to wood as per conservation area requirement.
Many thanks!

We are about to install ID Systems bifolds (not wood though). Our builder been using them for years and really rates them.

love them, really really love them.

clunky and solid and "swooshing" them back to let in the summer (if we ever have one!) is one of the highlights of my day

We have cedar bi fold. I agree they look great from the inside particularly as we have a wooden shaker kitchen and the shaker doors match thick wood in the doors perfectly. The finish is also v good as they arrive spray painted. I personally prefer the more traditional doors with more architrave details eg by sash window workshop but they were more than double the price!! The one downside for me is that cedar is a soft wood and ours are painted white, so the door step / cill already has a few big splinters coming off and paint has easily chipped. I wonder if they can provide a hard wood dark cill. They come with a ten year guarantee though, it's a locally run business which means they're only a short journey away to come rectify any problems. I think overall they're v good value.
