Moving towards Hornsby House Post Reply

My daughter has a place starting at Hornsby in September and we're hoping to move a little closer to the school. I just wondered if there are specific areas that people tend to live? In a perfect world we'd be walking distance but would just be nice to be near other people at the same school. I'm currently in Earlsfield, so not that far, but don't know the Hornsby area that well. Any info gratefully received!

We moved from Earlsfield for Hornsby House too. Hornsby parents generally live in walking distance, or a short drive away, but there are plenty coming from a little further too. We are in the triangle (as estate agents like to call it) between Balham station, Wandsworth Common station and Nightingale Lane which makes it really easy for school, play dates etc.Good luck with your move!

We have a place at Hornsby starting in September too and we are in the Heaver estate, just off Bedford Hill. I'm hoping other Hornsby kids will be there too. It's cheaper that side of Balham High Rd and also very close to Tooting Common, which is lovely.

My 3 kids are at Hornsby and we live in the Nightingale triangle too. Loads of Hornsby families live nearby and we have 2 commons within an easy walk. We also know quite a few in the Hyde Farm estate and slightly further on is Telford Park area near Streatham but that would mean driving to school, (although many of my friends do ride shares from there). The Heaver estate is very popular too and is a slightly longer walking distance than the Nightingale area. Balham is a good station to live near as there is mainline as well as Tube from there.

I have 2 children at HH and live off Abbeville Road. We car share with another family (also 2). There are also a few other families on or around Abbeville who have children there as well. The gates open at 8.10am and given it takes about 10 mins to drive the traffic is generally not too bad. Parking outside the school can be a bit tough if you arrive towards 8.20 but a little walk in the morning from a few streets away certainly wakes us all up. Our location hasn't affected play dates at all.
