Postby fiona.s. » Fri Jan 24, 2014 8:16 pm

Hi,
Does anyone know how to clean the grout in bathroom???It has been retailed just a few years ago and the grout between the tiles becomes dirty yellow. My cleaner tried to clean it with ''grout cleaner'' but no any changes.

Try Dettol mould remover. It smells a bit toxic, so open you bathroom window and use gloves when spraying on. I spray it on heavily and leave it for 10 mins. It cleans quite a lot without having to scrub, but a quick scrub with a brush before rinsing usually cleans my grouting up nicely http://www.dettol.co.uk/mould-and-mildew

Bicarbonate soda mixed with a bit of water on a toothbrush. Only thing that worked for me.

If you don't fancy doing it yourself or you want a professional job try Gary at Bristowclean. He did my grouting in my bathroom for a reasonable price. I think once he's done a deep clean it's easier to keep on top of yourself by doing what the others suggest. He works in the area all the time so am sure he would pop in to have a look and give you a quote. His number is: 07949 084693.

I use a toothbrush dipped in bleach. Usually works a treat

I always use lots of thick neat bleach, paint it on, scrub it in with a kitchen brush, leave it for as many hours as you like, rinse off.

careful with the bleach, depending on the type of tiles you will completely ruin them.
if you have travertine DO NOT use bleach.

It sounds odd but my gran always used vinegar with lemon juice - that works with limescale in a kettle anyway (she used it for everything)

you can use grout cleaners and even dilute bleach. However, you should not overuse corrosive products, it may otherwise cause erosion of the grout or damage to the ceramic surface.

For stubborn stains, you can make two pastes of baking soda with one serving of water. This mixture should be applied to the stains of the strawberries, allowed to stand overnight, and then wiped with plastic bristles. Finally, rinse thoroughly with hot water. I will help you find other ways to clean the grout and hope it will help you.
