Help! Car seat Houdini!

Postby ordinarygirl09 » Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:27 am

Hello all...

Wonder if anyone can help. I have a lovely 20-month-old little girl who until very recently loved her car seat.

She now manages (with a lot of twisting and wriggling) to get out of the straps of her car seat (and her pram-bugaboo bee). I have tried tightening the straps beyond belief, however it makes no difference she still manages to gets her arms out.... I have tried using snacks, toys, story cd's in the car, singing-just about everything to take her mind off of being in her car seat but it has made no difference...

Any advice would be gratefully received.. x

Snap! On both the 20 month old girl and ability to get arms out no matter how tight the straps. We were even at traffic lights the other day when two policemen walked by and I pointed them out to her. They gave me a very funny look and it wasn't until afterwards I realised they must have thought she wasn't strapped in at all by the way she was leaning forward! I certainly have no solution! She even leans forward and grabs the head rest of the seat in front of her! Hope someone has a magic solution but I'm guessing just another assertion of independence (as I was putting her in the car seat today she started shouting "help help"- little madam!)

My son can wriggle free of his car seat straps no matter how tightly I pull them.

I bought a Houdini Stop and he's never once got his arms out since.

Many thanks. Will check out the houdini stop but just been told today that the safety of these devices are unknown..? I.e. if there was a crash it could interfere with seatbelt working properly? Not sure if that is the case but will do a little research.

In the meantime we will just have to walk everywhere..!

Hi

I am the UK distributor of the Houdini Stop, I noticed on our stats that we were getting a number of hits from this thread so I thought I'd drop in to help clear things up.

The Houdini Stop is a perfectly safe device, we have had it crash tested and it was shown not to effect the performance of the car seat or harness in anyway.

You can view the results of our test on www.houdinistop.co.uk
