Please help us to save Barnaby Bright nursery!

Postby DLV2011 » Tue Apr 01, 2014 10:05 pm

My daughter currently attends Barnaby Bright nursery school. The nursery, which has been open since 1998, is located in St Barnabas church on Clapham Common Northside. It is a really fantastic nursery with wonderful staff. Unfortunately it needs to find new premises - if it doesn't it will face closure in 2 years' time. A group of parents are working to try and save the nursery and we would be extremely grateful for any ideas for possible alternative premises or solutions - many thanks.

I know this nursery as my 2 sons went here and we all LOVED it. The staff are brilliant, and it has been such a great and happy start to their education. I really hope they find a suitable new premises. SW11 need fantastic nurseries like this, there aren't enough!

I couldn't agree more - my children went to Barnaby Bright and we all loved it. The teachers are amazing - so caring and such brilliant teachers - our children hatched chicks, went on wonderful trips and had amazing experiences, far beyond what you'd expect.
It will be so sad if it does have to close. I hope new premises will be found and soon, so if anyone has any ideas/options do tell the nursery.
Thanks

If we joined the PCC, does anyone think that could help?

Both of my children attended this nursery and it really is the most wonderful place. It is incredibly sad that they are being forced to move out of the church as they provide such a valuable service in the community. Is it worth contacting someone higher up in the CofE to try and get them to reconsider?

My 3 children have been attending this nursery from 2007 up until now. It has only gone better over time and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

It would be a enormous loss to the community, the children and the families if they had to close down.
I am hoping we can quickly find an appropriate local venue where everyone can feel welcome, nurtured and thrive again.

If anybody out there has some space or is perhaps willing to share theirs, please get in touch ! thank you.

This is a terrible, terrible shame. We had a very bad experience with another local nursery and then found Barnaby Bright - and never looked back!
Hopefully someone will come forward with a bright idea for a shared venue and open their doors to this wonderful, caring nursery.

What an amazing Nursery! Would be a crying shame for it to close down. My two children went through it and SW11 definitely needs more nurseries like this one. Amazing teachers, fabulous resources and the best start a little one can have pre school. Anyone got any space to share or ideas to help?

My son currently attends Barnaby Bright and absolutely loves it. We would be so upset if it had to close due to lack of premises. I really hope that someone reading this might know of suitable premises or perhaps know a church hall administrator or private landlord with available space that might suit this fabulous mornings and term time only nursery.

I cannot agree more. Barnaby Bright has been rated Outstanding by OFSTED since 2009 http://www.barnabybright.ik.org/

Barnaby is also a registered charity, they consistently reinvest in equipment and materials to the benefit of the children.
In addition, they partner with local well-recognised practitioners to offer specialist teaching in danse, drama and music as well as dedicated workshops on areas of the curriculum or visits: the children went on a field trip recently to the Battersea fire station and had the London ambulance visiting.

If anybody can think of premises in the area, please post here or contact the nursery directly.

thank you

My son is currently at Barnaby Bright nursery and we have been incredibly happy with the level of care and teaching provided. The staff are excellent and we feel so lucky that our son has had such a great start to his school life! It would be a huge shame if the nursery were to close down due to lack of premises and we are doing all we can to find a suitable new home. If anybody has any ideas or knows of any premises that might fit the bill please please let us know!

Thank you!

Barnaby Bright has given the perfect start to 2 of my children who have attended the nursery. The teachers clearly enjoy their jobs and have a sincere interest in the children which is what makes the nursery so special. I just hope that they can find a new 'home' as it would be such a shame to have it shut down. Any leads???

My daughter is currently at Barnaby Bright and I would be so sad, like the other Dads and Mums, to see it close. It is the most wonderful nursery, with truly committed, encouraging and caring staff and I really happy, nurturing atmosphere. I do hope someone will have a clever idea for us and, if you do know of something, please do let us know, thank you.

What a shame - I have heard great things about this nursery. Why can't it continue to use its existing premises?

Both of my daughters have attended this wonderful nursery and I would love for my son to attend in the future to benefit from the great start that they have had. I am deeply saddened that Barnaby Bright may face closure due to the team no longer being able to use the premises they currently occupy. I knew from the first minute I visited the nursery that it was unique and special - the staff have such a wonderful way about them creating a nurturing, enjoyable learning environment and the children thrive there. I really hope someone comes forward with a suitable space for the nursery to move to. Any leads would be most welcome.
