BCG scars

Postby Love-being-a-mum! » Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:52 pm

My 13 month old had her BCG about 8 weeks ago. Her arm has developed the characteristic blister appearance, but hasn't had any puss or ooziness. I'm pretty confident that she's reacted as she should have done and is therefore building up some immunity, however, I'm wondering whether this type of reaction may leave less of a scar?
I know I shouldn't worry about such things... Does anyone have any experience of this?

Hi! In my experience, it was fine not to ooze pus - and as you say, it does leave less of a scar if you don't.

Warn her to be careful nobody hits her arm though - my BCG was fine until I got hit in the arm, then it started oozing and I ended up with a big scar!
