Hi all,

I'm trying to setup a monthly Cantonese Chinese Storytime Toddler Group in South West London.

Our first session will be on Saturday 9th November 3pm in Cheam Library.

If you're interested have a look at http://www.cantosing.co.uk.

Thanks,

Mel

Hi all,

I've launched a Saturday Cantonese Storytime group - we meet 2nd Saturday of each month in Cheam.

Got people coming from Wandsworth, Epsom, Cobham, Kingston, Putney, Richmond - it's about half hours drive from most of those places via the A3.

Or on Southern Trains from Victoria.

I've got a website with more info - http://www.cantosing.co.uk

Get in touch if you're interested! :)

Hi all,

I'm the mum who started PlayCantonese, which someone mentioned above. It's a bunch of free Cantonese playgroups run by many mums around London and the rest of the UK. We are starting a Mandarin playgroup in April at Shepherd's Bush Library (right beside Westfield, nearest Tubes are Shepherd's Bush, Wood Lane or Shepherd's Bush Market). This will be a free group, running twice a month (2nd and 4th Fridays) from 10am to 10.45am. Come along to give it a try or to meet other mums who speak Mandarin to their kids. Email me on info@playcantonese.com if you need any more details.

Hi Fiona,

Are you starting this Friday 11 April?

Also, do mums need to speak Mandarin already?

Thank you,
Katie

Yep, Friday 11th April from 10-10.45am at Shepherd's Bush library. No experience of Mandarin is expected, just let your child soak up the songs and sounds while you chat to other parents. Email mandarin@playcantonese.com with any more questions. Hope to see you there!

I am a Malaysian Chinese speaking mum who is looking for a mandarin playgroup in Wandsworth/Putney. My child is 2 1/2 year old. I always speak mandarin to him but since i send him to nursery twice a week, he has been refused to speak mandarin and reply me mainly in English.

I would like to know is there any Chinese playgroup around here, if not I would like to start one.

Hi there,

There is a babymandarin sing song class in Wimbledon and also Ginger runs a Mandarin music class in Surbiton. Do google them and have a look at their websites for details.

There is also a brand new Cantonese playgroup in Wimbledon on Saturday mornings starting on 25 Oct 2014. I am one of the organisers for this group. We are a non-profit group. You are very welcome to join us.

Our details are on netmum under toddlers group in Merton/Wimbledon.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Have you discovered the Cantonese Parents, babies and toddlers facebook group? There bound to be someone near you!

Also, you might like to check out playcantonese website's calendar. They have lots of free or non-profit Cantonese sessions all over the places run by volunteers. Good place to meet other Cantonese parents. Sorry, where is BTC?

Good luck with the playdate search!

K169 - thanks for your suggestion. We live in between the Commons and have been to a playgroup in Cheam but it was a bit too far for us to get to. Would be great if there are any other families living nearby who would like to meet up.

Hi Ahcl, there is a Cantonese playgroup session in Wimbledon which might be more accessible to you. The inaugural session was held last month and the next one will be on Sat, 15th Nov from 10:00-11:40am (every 3rd Sat of the month going forward). You can find more details on the www.playcantonese.com calendar section for more details. Booking is required as space is limited. Hope you can join us!

Hi all,

I went to a new Mandarin playgroup which had its first class yesterday at St.Lukes church, Ramsden road. Great that they have started classes in the area, but they need more support to keep it going. As it was the first week there were only 4 babies/toddlers in the class . So lots of room for others, especially as they have two teachers in the class.

Both teachers were great with all the kids, they spoke Mandarin throughout - songs and games throughout the session. I think it's a great class , this week we learnt about fruit and vegetables, a lot of vocabulary to learn, and I hope that they get more people to come along. It's £13 a class for the hour and the class is currently at 13:30 on Fridays however they are looking to find an alternate time for the class.

The lady to get in touch with is called Jane and you can get in touch with her via this email.

info@qhlanguageexchange.com

Hope to see a few of you at next weeks class.

Take care

Hello all
I have just come across this very old thread.
My Italian au pair's sister is keen to come to London for the summer, possibly as an au pair. She is 17 and is studying Chinese in Italy where she is top of her class.
Would any of you be interested in employing an Chinese speaking Italian au pair this summer for a few months?
It's a long shot, I know, but thought it worth an ask!
Martina
