Breast surgeon recommendations please

Postby supergirl » Thu Oct 02, 2014 12:25 pm

Hello

I hope someone will be able to recommend a breast surgeon. I ve got a referral letter because of a lump that needs to be checked asap.

I can go to any private hospital in London.

I am most grateful for your help. I am sick with worries.

It's an extremely stressful time, I'm really sorry to hear that.

I saw Nicholas Beechey Newman at London Bridge Hospital, he also consults in Old Broad Street in the City.

I am hoping to link you to this topic which has been discussed before a number of times on NVN as there were lots of other recommendations, and helpful viewpoints, it was
http://test.nappyvalleynet.com/mums/vie ... an#p120676

If that doesn't work put Beechey Newman into the search bar and it should pop up.

Good luck, hoping for a positive outcome for you.

Poor you!

My best friend was under Richard Cummins at Parkside Wimbledon (easy parking!), she now lives overseas, but still comes back to see him for her follow ups. I've met him too, he's a straight talking Aussie if that helps.

Thanks.
Nicholas Beechey-Newman is recognized but I am advised he often charges more than what my insurance will pay.
May I ask if that was the case for you and how much roughly? I am with Axa PPP.

Otherwise anybody heard about Mr Hisham Hamed at the London Bridge Hospital?

Many thanks.

I didn't have any issues on the charging side, we had BUPA cover through my husband's work, I had been referred after a BUPA medical and mammogram so maybe the doctors there only recommend onto already approved consultants.

It's so annoying that when you are completely worried sick about health matters that you end up in a bureaucratic merry go round.

Friends have also seen Mr Sharma at Parkside, also very highly rated here on similar threads.

Just a thought - has your GP given you a list of consultants? Mine always offers me a number of options NHS and private and then I have a few options to talk through with BUPA.

Hope this is sorted for you very soon.

Thank you very much everyone for such prompt answers.

I ve checked all your recommendations and I can see them, I don't know why I was told that about Nicholas Beechey-Newman.
However I can only have appt on Tuesday at the earliest.

Mr Hamed at the London Bridge can see me tonight. I will go so I don't have to worry all week end. But as the other thread say, if I want a second opinion, I will arrange it with one of the consultant mentioned.

I will report back on my experience. I am so worried that I just want to know. I am sure I ll b fine but I just can't stop worrying.

Thanks again. Sx

Hi Supergirl,
I was in exactly the same position as you earlier this year. I waited 10 days for an nhs appt and they were some of the most anxious days of my life. On the day itself I had a thorough physical examination, a mammogram of both breasts and an ultrasound. Although the lump in my breast was (and still) is quite large it turned out to be nothing sinister.
I found it particularly reassuring to see how many other women were waiting to be seen like me that day. I know it sounds crazy but it just showed how common it is to find lumps and backed up the fact that the vast majority are nothing to worry about.
I hope your appointment goes as well as mine did. xx

I hope all went well. The one stop breast clinic at London Bridge is great. I have been under the lovely Nick Beechy-Newman for many years and would definitely recommend him. My insurance has always covered his fees.

I am so so sorry to hear this, many people are given a check, all is OK and life goes back to normal, for others the stress worry and anxiety multiplies.

You have the medical experts on your side and case now and I am sure they will make this as easy and comfortable as possible.

Wishing you all the very best, love hugs and support.

Supergirl, sorry to hear your news wasn't good. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July and I am now undergoing treatment. Everyone deals with this differently, but after the shock of my diagnosis I drew an enormous amount of strength from speaking to women who had been treated or were in the middle of treatment. If you feel you would like to talk to someone in the same position I would be happy to help, so please feel free to PM me.
love and best wishes to you

Another breast cancer patient here, I was diagnosed in April, a month before my daughters first birthday and my surgeon is Mr Sharma who was mentioned above, but I am NHS and have nothing but praise for my treatment and speed. Echoing Jingo_x if you want to email somebody about any aspect of treatment, I have my last chemo on Monday and then surgery in a months time so its all very current in my mind!

Good luck with it all.
