Early pregnancy consultant – recommendations?

Postby hellokittyerw » Wed Oct 01, 2014 10:17 am

Can anyone recommend a consultant who specialises in early pregnancy monitoring?
I am having a difficult early pregnancy (bleeding) and would like to see a consultant privately, to give me peace of mind that I am doing everything I can.
I’m already going to the Early pregnancy assessment unit at St Thomas’s for monitoring/scans, where I have been seen by nurses.
I haven’t yet decided between NHS vs private for the rest of the pregnancy, for now I am just looking to see someone for early pregnancy issues.
Thanks a lot!

I think most of the consultants at C&W would be able to deal with early pregnancy issues?
I haven't used them myself but i looked into some of them (Guy Thorpe-Beeston, Keith Duncan, Mark Johnson, Nick Wales) and they all were part of the high risk pregnancy team at C&W.

prof nicolaides at the fetal medecine centre.

he is the absolute guru in complicated pregnancies. he will also call a spade a spade though so be prepared!

best of luck, i had very risky pregnancy and while early bleeding can be super normal i also know how scary it feels

Id second Professor Nicoladies at the fetal medicine centre, the man is a genius and really lovely. We've been to see him a few times, once after high ds results from chelsea and west, we are also going back for a growth scan. He only sees private patients on a Wednesday so if you want to see him book soon and be prepared to wait. The rest of the time he is at Kings.

2boysmum - I've just read your post properly and it made me laugh. He does call a spade a spade. We were a twin pregnancy and sadly lost one and his opening line to us was 'you have a dead baby yes?' !!! Still i'd rather someone like that where you know you will get answers.
