How much you pay your Cleaner

Postby FabLondon » Tue May 05, 2015 2:15 pm

Hi,

My cleaner just asked me for a raise and I'm not sure how much a cleaner is paid in the area?

Thanks for your help

We pay £10/hr. Does anyone else pay their cleaner when he/she is on holiday? Mine seems to think I'm really mean for not paying her when she goes on holiday x

£10 per hour is the going rate in this area, less elsewhere.

With regard to holiday pay, if you are paying your cleaner cash in hand then whether you decide to pay holiday pay is entirely up to you. How you feel about them and how long they have worked for you may be a factor in your decision.

Bearing in mind that if they are being paid cash in hand they wont be paying any tax so £10 per hour isn't too bad a rate for unskilled work and is much higher than the minimum wage level (which you will still pay tax on - which IMHO is immoral as min wage is £13500 per annum).

If I was working as a cleaner for the average family in this area, I would probably feel I earnt every penny as children/husbands are quite often extremely messy creatures.

I pay mine £10 per hour.

I do pay her while on holiday but mainly because I'm too lazy to change the direct debit. There are also times when she works a bit over, I'm pretty chilled to be honest.

We pay ours £10 an hour.
We give her a 2 week bonus at Christmas and pay her for 2 weeks of her 4 week summer holiday.
So we pay for 12 months and we only works 11 months.
She is very good and I want to keep her!
:D
