High View Primary - Recent reviews and opinions please

Postby clemmymummy » Wed May 20, 2015 6:40 pm

Hello,

Seems we are not in the catchment area for any other schools than High View Primary. I've read some interesting reviews but they seem outdated.

Please could anyone let me know some up to date reviews?
Does your child go there and are you/ they happy?

What's the history re head teacher etc?

Many many thanks for your responses!

I'm a high view parent. We have had a very good personal experience to date. My son Is very happy there, learning lots and with a lovely circle of friends. and the teachers he has had in nursery and reception have been great. We also use the wrap around.

The previous head left in February for personal reasons and a new head - coming from Eardley School in Wandsworth - starts in September. The interim head and deputy are very visible and I know are happy to show people round and answer questions. Do go and have a look. Meet the head of early years if you can, she is great. Having used several local nurseries, High View's is the best we've encountered. I am happy to chat more directly, via pm, or to meet.

My child was at nursery at High View last year. They (and we) loved the school, and we keep in touch with many friends there. Unfortunately we were priced out of SW11, but had we stayed I would have had no qualms about my child continuing there.

Thanks ladies, good to hear.

What I read about was bullying, swearing and lack of communication with parents which was worrying.

We will definitely go and see for ourselves and have a tour. TLS thank you for offering to meet up / pm. We are away now until 3 June so will get in touch then if that's ok.

And do they learn Chinese there? Not French or Spanish?

Yes, any time.

Currently all the children do Mandarin from Y1 to Y6. There's also a Spanish after school club which I think is all year groups (my reception-aged child goes and loves it).

My daughter is in early years and I have no complaints. With regards to parent communication children are given letters/newsletters etc. They also have a mobile texting service highlighting events and will shortly be communicating letters/newsletters via email. The website is regularly updated.

The current head is amazing he is very visible and has already contributed positive changes.

My daughter will be going to high view reception and my youngest to nursery. Please PM me if you wish to meet for coffee to discuss.
