Crescent II and after school care?

Postby REDCOLABOTTLE » Mon Jul 06, 2015 9:36 pm

Hi There

I'm looking to start my daughter in Crescent II on Trinity Crescent in Tooting 4 days a week from September. The sessions only run 9-12 each day however I work part-time. Does anyone have children who attend and if so what do the working Mums and Dads do for childcare after this? Can you recommend anyone who would be willing to do a childcare or nanny share for after school care?

Also do you recommend Crescent II?

All ideas and feedback welcome!

Thanks,
Nicola

Massive staff turnover happening at the moment. .

Ask why staff that are well-thought of have regularly moved to other pre-schools owned by the same owner while there have been no moves the other way.

I don't know much about crescent ii but my daughter is at crescent iii which is also run by the kindergartens and is a wonderful, nurturing, warm school where my daughter is thriving. They offer one long day (until 4pm) and one afternoon club day (until 3pm) and then lunches until 1.30pm on two other days. Could you check if crescent ii offer afternoon school on a few days which perhaps would mean less need for childcare at the end of the day (dependent on your work hours of course..).
The kindergartens group all follow the same curriculum which is very well thought out and the staff do transfer across kindergartens within the group but as far as I can see this motivates the staff as they feel they have career progression..
Obviously it is also a term time nursery so you will need childcare in the holidays.

Thanks Abbmum. Great to hear such positive feedback. My daughter is only 2 so I don't think she can do the longer days or afterschool clubs until she's 3. That means I'll need childcare 4 afternoons a week plus to cover outside of term time. If you know what other Mums in the Crescent do if they work that would be great.

Crescent II offers an superb kindergarten environment, my two children have been attending over the last four years. I would highly recommend both the care and the curriculum. Wonderful space too inside and out. You've made an excellent choice.

There are lots of working mums and lots of SAH parents. Most working mums have nannies or nanny-shares I would say. After age 3, as you mention, they can stay for afternoon school until 3 or 4pm or take part in afternoon classes (tennis, forest school, rugby, art club, science club etc.) Really lovely sessions that are a lot of fun.

Staff changes do happen and there are a few happening at the moment but I see this as a natural process - inevitable and unavoidable in pre-school teaching.

please PM me if you have more questions as I'm happy to answer them.
