anyone been to Pro Kut on Chestnut Grove? Post Reply

My two yr old son is desperate for a haircut. We took him to my husband's usual barber where he threw the mother of all tantrums so thought we'd try somewhere more used to little ones.

I've noticed in Pro Kut's window that they have a car-shaped child's chair so assume they do children. Has anyone been, or can anyone recommend somewhere in Balham that can deal with a tantruming toddler?

I have been to Pro Kut, saw the car in the window and decided to give it a go.

They charge £9, and although the haircut was very good, the man certainly wouldn't be able to cut with a screaming toddler. He didn't speak English very well, and didn't say much really. So unless your toddler sits still, don't think it's any good.

Although worth a try I think.

I now go to a barbers on Tooting high street, for £3 a cut, quick quick, in and out and no fuss. Just no fancy chair.

W2K on Bedford Hill are great with children and very reasonably priced too. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Thanks for the responses. My little guy isn't very good at sitting still, so perhaps Pro Kut isn't for us. Will give Bedford Hill a try and report back.

Thought I'd update as we finally got around to getting his hair cut.

Went to W2K on Bedford Hill. Thomas, the hairdresser was very patient. Son was not. He wriggled, kicked screamed. Thomas tried giving him toys, pretended to cut my hair first, we promised him a treat if he was a good boy. Every trick in the book. Nothing worked.

Thomas suggested we go back when son was asleep, which we did. Thomas, bless his heart, crouched down and cut his hair whilst he slept in the pushchair. I had to take him out for the back of his head to be done, but he was too groggy to put up much of a fight. Hair got everywhere, all over him, me, the pushchair, but it was worth it to finally get it done. It's not the most perfect haircut I've ever seen, but that's in no way the fault of the hairdressers, they did a fantastic job dealing with tantrummy toddler.

And they only charged £7.50.

We'll definitely go back to them next time we have to suffer the ordeal again

Mrs. Amanda I'm pleased you managed (despite the tantrums) to get sorted and that W2K didn't let you down. We all go there and our daughter loves it. I've been going there for at least 15 years and have never had cause for complaint.

My boys love W2K in that they can see the trains from the hairdresser's chair - the hairdresser just has to manage the fact that they are cutting hair where my little ones are not looking in the mirror but out of the window calling out how many trains they are seeing !
