LEGO Storage ??

Postby mummy2-3 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 8:59 pm

Interested to hear whether any of you have an efficient way of storing LEGO, my son just LOVES his LEGO it but we are finding it tricky to agree to a system for storing the kits, all their teeny tiny pieces plus pictures and instructions -without getting it all muddled.

Such a great toy -very keen to encourage it but also keen to have it tidyed up in an orderly way!

thanks

I too would be interested to hear how to store LEGO. We are almost hiding under a mountain of Star Wars lego (in bits) which live in plastic boxes all around the house. HELP!!

My sister in law who is very neat, clean and efficient has plastic bins to store the toys with little bits. There is a lego bin, a matchbox car bin, a Thomas the train bin (this one is obviously bigger), etc. The kids know to put the toys back in the appropriate bin, and she stores them in a cupboard.
We're still a little ways off from playing with toys like that in my house, but I plan to try and implement this system!

My kids are probably a bit older (11 and 13) but the problem hasn't gone away!! We gave up trying to keep the sets together as they were always mixing them up to make new models, we just store it by colour, ie one box for red, one for white etc. We have 13 boxes of lego but if searching for a particular piece at least you know which box to look in.

do you know what I have found useful..... those self seal freezer bags!
You can get some that 'zip' closed, and others that your press together. Either way they are brilliant!

We sort model sets, people, trees etc whatever, and you can see what is in the bag.

The bags can go in regular big plastic boxes with lids, big enough to store instruction books flat.
