Any advice appreciated.. M.E/Chronic Fatigue

Postby SWlover » Fri Apr 01, 2016 3:25 pm

Hi Ladies,

After a long process of tests, my mum has recently been diagnosed with M.E/Chronic Fatique Syndrome.. She has now been off work 6 months (she loves her job) and is very frustrated with it all not being able to make plans or do much..

Has anyone been through this or know somebody who has?
Any advice or tips that I can share?

Hope to chat soon X

Has she heard of the 'Lightning Process'? A few friends with ME did the course and one who had not been out for 18 months played a round of golf on day three.
It's a very powerful course and if she is really willing to try anything then she should do this.

Best of luck

Hi there

Your mum has my deepest sympathy, I was diagnosed with this a year ago. I have tried numerous alternative therapies, some helpful, some a total waste of money. It became a full time job ! I've got a few suggestions of things that did work, and other things I now do to try and stave off bad attacks. I can post them here or happy to email your Mum direct if thats better ?

I actually think chronic fatigue is a very lazy diagnosis when conventional Medecine had failed to come up with Any answers so throws the condition into a "catch all" phrase which isn't very useful.
It's worth looking at triggers and symtoms. Often chronic poor health is caused by HPA axis dysfunction (Google), underlying chronic viral issues, emotional issues, gut issues or lifestyle.
I really recommend looking into functional MEDECINE practitioners who will take a deeper dive into what is going on and treat (I can recommend) and Eastern medecine. It's not going to be a linear recovery and I really don't think there is a magic bullet but in many ways the mind leads the body so you have to keep the mind in the game. Anyway, being diagnosed with "chronic fatigue" is not a useful psychological label to live with. Hopefully she can see it as "interim fatigue" and know that there is a way out. It's not like a cold so it won't be better tomorrow and it's frustrating as hell but I really advise going beyond the nhs/conventional routes. Please feel free to PM me if helpful x

I totally agree with 2boys mum - functional medicine could be a good route for you. Have a read of Mark Hyman's website, there is some interesting information on here as a good starting point.

You can find a practitioner here:

https://www.functionalmedicine.org/prac ... spx?id=117

Although there don't seem to be many GPs taking this approach yet in the UK. I did hear Dr Chatterjee speak this weekend and found him to have a great approach and he seemed like a really nice guy. Unfortunately he is in Manchester but could be worth a trip. http://www.drchatterjee.co.uk/

Good luck on your road to recovery
