I hardly dare step in and recommend anyone else!! However, I have been using Augusta Wells for the last 2 years and she has been fantastic. Same cost of £20 per hour per person. Tel 07968 972153 www.augustawellsgardens.com

I tried to contact Soul Gardeners last week and they still haven't gotten back to me. Any other recommendations?

I emailed Danny from SoulGardeners yesterday. He replied to me, saying he has been receiving a high volume of email and calls, and he is getting back to everyone.

Clearly the fact that they are so busy say's something about them.

They're brilliant.

I would like to know that too Groucho as when I posted a few weeks ago looking for someone to put some stones down in our garden the only responses I got were from 2 businesses. Typical!

Not sure how much 'proper' gardening you need versus a gool old tidy and sort out?
We needed the latter a few months back and used House Elf who I saw recommended on here.
Jake just got on with it -really good - will be using them again.

My husband does odd household jobs and garden tidying/turfing etc. and I do agree that, if he arrives with the client at a given time, then the "meter runs" from that time. Getting toolsfrom a vehicle into the working area and leaving the place cleared and tidy before leaving on time is also part of his paid time. If a given timescale is quoted, then it's only fair to allow him to leave as he often has another client to go on to. If he ran late with the morning job (as people often ask for "just one more thing") then the client should a) respect that this may not be possible without his risking being late for another client (not a good reputation to have), and b) if he is able to stay longer then the client should be prepared to pay for his time. If he ran late with every "can you just..." client, it would not be fair on the next client. As for paying for someone's time, it is not ethical to ask anyone to work longer and not be remunerated for their time and effort. My husband works alone, stops for a few minutes to have a bite to eat at lunchtime (not an hour, like some) and always welcomes a cuppa if offered but works like a Trojan!

I can highly recommend Piers Beeching (piers@beeching.co.uk / 07966 449196) who did a tidy up and then a makeover for our garden last year. Very personable service and extremely helpful suggestions with regards to planting and re-design to make the most of our outdoor space.

My husband is also a Gardener and has his own company - Lawn Care, 07501 465909, dominicthomas@btconnect.com. He can transform a garden in next to no time and will do anything from simply mowing a lawn to a complete tidy up. He removes all rubbish and leaves everything beautifully tidy. He will also jet wash any patio furniture or decking.
He is reliable, gives an honest and fair quote and works terribly hard.

I used Soul Gardeners to tidy my garden and lay some turf. In two days, my overgrown garden was transformed into a lovely place for my children play. My boys love playing on the new lawn.
I highly tecommend them.

I recently used Joanna Taylor (07968 198 047) who was recommended by someone on this site. She came in and did an amazing tidy of the garden. She is off on holiday in mid-August, so try and get her booked in asap.

Should anyone still be looking for a gardener I am a qualified garden designer / landscape gardener living and working locally.

The majority of my work involves soft landscaping, ie. redesigning and replanting existing spaces for those that don't want to spend alot on a complete rebuild. However, I also do general maintenance and tidying up, although not tree work unfortunately.

Please feel free to contact me via this board if you want a quote or any advice, or send me an email to emmadenardi@gmail.com.

Try Moyses Stevens at Wandsworth Common Station. Will quote for jobs large and small from paving to turfing, planting to irrigation.
