About 8-9 miles away from our home, there's a coal plant, something of the sorts. We're new in this area and didn't think it would be an issue since the distance is quite big, but I've noticed some ash-looking dust on our car since we live here, and after talking to a few neighbors, I figured out that it's from the plant. My baby is only 4 months old and I'd do anything for her, don't want to put her in danger. But I'm pretty sure the air in our home is polluted too, I really want to take action and make sure she's ok at least, not breathing in who knows what. If you have any advice, it's more than welcome.

Since there is a known issue in your area, definitely take action ASAP cause what you see on your car is most likely inhaled by you all. Keeping the windows closed 24/7 isn't a solution, cause one way or another, the dirty air manages to get inside. Your best course of action would be an air purifier with special filters that can capture the particles and leave the air inside the house clean and ok to breathe. As I know of, there are models that are better than others for nurseries as they produce less noise and don't use technologies that might end up causing more harm than good, say ozone generation for example.

There are other safety measures that you can set in place if you like, I'll leave you with a few guiding sources for help. But honestly, I'd recommend that you actually try to clear the air in your whole house of potential contaminations from the plant you talked about cause eventually, the baby will grow and move around freely. You can actually reduce outdoor pollution a bit too if you plant the right trees and plants in your garden, plants do well for indoor pollution fixing too, btw. But don't expect miracles when it comes to air pollution outside cause without the plant closing its activity for good, you're not in the clear.
