Northcote rd Dry Cleaners Shambles

Postby Suslik » Thu Aug 18, 2011 10:47 pm

I wonder if I anyone else has had a funny experience with Bellevue cleaners located on northcote road near ultraviolet flower shop.

they got my skirt repairs very wrong last year, but fixed it for free, so it was stressful (favourite skirt) but with a good ending.

this year both me and my husband took our new trousers to them to be shortened. my hubby's ones came back with one leg being about half and inch shorter than the other. it was so obvious the legs were different length! mine came back just a little bit off. when i brought these both in for repairs, the manager said:

'we will refund you for these jobs but we dont want you to come here anymore as we cant meet your standard', in a very offended tone of voice. i replied that he did not need to make me feel like i was a particularly picky customer just because the legs were blatantly obviously different! they repeated they did not want my custom anymore and i dared mention that it was fine but i'd mention it on nappyvalleynet.

that caused a storm! they told me that i was threatening them, and 'if i did anything illegal they had 6 cameras and very good lawyers to deal with it'! i did not realise that posting a customer experience note on nappyvalleynet would equate to looting, stealing and threatening and would require cameras and lawyers...
they continued to assure me that i 'stepped out of line' and cameras, and lawyers, and bla bla.

not a nice start of the day!

They took the hem up on a gorgeous maxi dress of mine a few years ago and totally screwed it up. It was just wonky all over, they blamed the dress saying it was cheap material but also offered to redo it. I declined and instead my mum managed to rectify it. Haven't, and won't, use them for a repair again.

I think the lack of responses to this unfair posting says it all. Bellevue Cleaners are a wonderful, reliable, friendly, family run business. Everyone on Northcote Road loves them and the long queue outside every Saturday says it all. I have used them weekly for over five years as Bellevue Cleaners and their previous name Unicorn. Every single member of staff is friendly, professional and I have always been mightily impressed by their service. In an age where good service is impossible to find, they stand out as being true professionals.

So to find someone trying to damage an impeccable business on an online forum, I find hugely disappointing. So ignore this rude posting and go and try them for yourselves.

The fact they're popular doesn't alter that they were unable to hem my dress or the issues the OP had with them.
I don't think either posts are rude, just personal experiences. If anything it is the tone of your post that comes across as rude.

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience. I rarely post on NVN I really wanted to say that I have been using them for over 10 years for dry cleaning and for some repairs and alterations and I have never had a negative experience. Excellent work and always so lovely and polite so I was really surprised to read this post!

I agree with the positive comments. I've been using them regularly for years and I think they are fantastic for both cleaning and repairs. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

So sick of these replies saying we shouldn't comment on bad service we've received incase it damages their reputation! We have every right to warn people or share our experience. I think it's also good to read the positive comments to give another point of view (although I'm always suspicious of those that join just to stick up for a business!) but don't tell us not to post these comments as this information sharing is what makes this forum great.

It would be a refreshing change if the owners took the feedback on board and apologised and offered to rectify the situation instead of signing up and posting messages complaining about damage to their rep

LangroydDad - take note!

Goldhawk how dare you suggest that my post is anything other than genuine. I have been a resident of this area for over five years and am a father of a ten month old. As the original poster stated, the owners have already given her a full refund and offered to rectify the situation so your assertion that they should fix the situation is irrelevant as they have clearly already tried to do so. I can only imagine how appallingly a customer has to behave for the owners to offer them their money back and ask them not to come back. My post was merely to state that I love Bellevue Cleaners (and clearly by the other supportive posts here many others feel the same) and that I think it is wrong for someone to try and ruin a great family business.

Of course I am not suggesting that you own the dry cleaners, they are probably just your friends. You certainly have been using them for a long time

I would recommend you edit your post to remove your phone number

NVN does have problems with sock puppeting especially those appearing to recommend services offered by posters

I fully understand. And I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion on this lovely website. I will leave this debate by saying just this: I am merely a very happy customer of Bellevue Cleaners who finds the original post very hard to believe. And I feel there are many other residents of this area that feel the same.

I felt I would sign up to comment on this posting because people are often all to willing to complain (I myself always complain about bad service when I receive it) but neglect to praise when they receive great service. I have received great service from Bellevue Cleaners consistently for five years so wish to share this.

Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion and entitled to post their thoughts. My opinion is simply that they are professional people and I love popping in there every Saturday to drop off and pick up my dry cleaning. And there is an interview with me in the new issue of SW Magazine in which I state exactly that.

So you've recently given a positive review in a magazine to this business then by coincidence you stumble upon this website and see a post about the very same business so decide to join the site and comment? What a coincidence!

I have used the dry cleaners off and on for the last 10 years - I am not a regular customer but have always had positive experiences there, with cleaning and with repairs. On one occasion when I asked them to redo something, they were very amenable about it and I am really amazed to hear about the first poster's experience, as I find it hard to reconcile that with my own impressions of them.
