Gas fireplace help

Postby reggiebe » Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:20 am

Good morning,

We are in a terraced basement flat (so there are flats above us) and we have a gas fireplace which we have never used - it looks like there is a pipe there, but no idea how to check if the ventilation is okay so we don't affect the flats above us, or how to get the gas connected and set up - basically, no idea where to start with it at all. Does anyone have any advice or people they would recommend to get round to have a look at it? Thank you!

British Gas might be a good place to start.

They don't have anything on their site about any fireplace work and they don't come particularly well recommended when it comes to boiler issues, so was looking for actual advice, not snark - but thanks!

Ah ok. We have a contract with them and they have always been helpful.
