Northcote Road weekend closure - we need your help...

Postby Jonny Dyson Property Consultants » Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:10 am

I think it’s fair to say that the majority of residents thoroughly enjoyed the al fresco atmosphere on Northcote Road last summer, and we are hoping to resume the weekend closures again this Spring and Summer. We have secured funding from Wandsworth Council to put in permanent rising bollards, which will start to be installed in spring and be in place by the summer. In the meantime we will continue to use the water filled barriers we had last year. The funds will also allow us to put up more permanent signs along the tributary streets to tell people of the closures.

But… (why is there always a but?!!?)

We need funding, and this is where we need your help. Even with the bollards in place, the street closure will still cost a significant amount (five figures plus every weekend), and with Wandsworth having paid for the infrastructure, we have to raise the money ourselves. The hospitality businesses will be able to contribute towards the cost, but it’s a lot to ask of everyone, especially when they have been closed for so long.

We need sponsors. We REALLY need sponsors!!

We will have 5,000 – 10,000 people every weekend coming to Northcote Road over the summer. We have a closed street where sponsors can have stands, signage and a huge footfall. We have two blocks with no hospitality businesses so they can have the whole street to themselves - I’m thinking electric car manufacturers (Jaguar, Tesla, Mercedes etc), or possibly someone more lifestyle like Land Rover? Maybe luxury drink brands, or even some of the big drinks manufacturers like Heineken, Evian, Pepsi? Perhaps a red letter day type ‘experience’ business? A garden furniture business?

Someone reading this must know someone who knows someone who gets involved with these sort of things so please, put your thinking hats on and drop me a message to info@northcoteroad.london

If we can’t raise the funds then we can’t close the road – and that would be a massive blow for everyone, residents and businesses alike…

Thanks for reading and fingers crossed.
