What on Earth is this ??? - Mysterious Huge Insect in Garden on Drying Washing!!! Post Reply

Huge (  8 - 10 cm long) grey/black / white moth type insect found resting on our washing that has been out all day. It was so big Ithought it was a sleeping bat at first!

Would certainly freak me out if it landed on me - anybody have any idea what it is?

Beautiful! We are very lucky to share this city with other wonderful creatures. Hopefully a sign that nature is coping despite the way we treat it.

 Convolvulous hawk moth it is - confirmed when I looked it up!

My husband wasn't too sure see it had slept the night in his underpants on the line!
