Acupuncture for Migraines - does it work?

Postby luckymummy » Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:25 am

Has anyone seen an amazing acupuncturist for migraines? My daughter and I both suffer and have tried every route possible but have heard about acupuncture for migraines. Has anyone got a success story and can recommend someone to help us.

Many thanks.

Hi, yes I have! Peter cheirakul who is the owner of art of healing in Wandsworth. He’s such a nice guy and amazing at acupuncture ( also an osteopath) but has helped me a lot with migraines.

Also, depending on how you feel about this but I have found that Botox specifically for migraines has really helped and for that I see Tamsin at the Wrinkle doctor fulham. She used to be a GP and knows exactly where to put the Botox to help relief the pain/symptoms.

Hope you get some help as they can be so debilitating.

Thirty years ago l had the most horrific migraines. Traditional medicines (prescription drugs) were doing nothing. I could not drive, walking was hazardous etc and l was getting desperate.

A neighbour heard about it on the grapevine and knocked on my door. The lady was "special, different, alternative" and l was reluctant to even listen. She told me of a lady that she had visited and that the results were absolutely incredible. She claimed that she had reclaimed her life, saved her marriage etc. I personally thought she was borderline crazy but I was so desperate that l agreed to try. I was convinced it was all fairy stuff but within 6 treatments l was "cured." I can't say whether it would help you but if the question is , "Can it work?," l can absolutely confirm that it can.

Thank you for this Steve, stories like this give me hope. I have heard a similar story from someone else but sadly their amazing acupuncturist isn’t around anymore. I wonder if there is anyone who has seen someone more recently where they have had a similar experience and can give me the contact details. There are so many practitioners out there but I am looking for an experience like you have had but finding the right person is the hard part. Good to know it can actually work in such a miraculous way.

Hi LuckyMummy,

I'm sorry to hear that you and your daughter both get migraines. I am an acupuncturist and often see my patients the moment they feel like a migraine might be coming on to ward it off. Some use acupuncture to reduce or avoid their reliance on the migraine drugs. This is an issue that my mother has had since she turned 40 and so has become an interest of mine.

I have had good success with migraines linked to periods and migraines due to muscular tension. I haven't treated other types of migraines (such as the ones more related to the Stomach/triggered by histamines) although acupuncture is great for strengthening the function of the Stomach.

If you would like to have a chat, drop me a message.
My website is www.pippagdacupuncture.co.uk

Thanks,

Pippa
