 Company Description
Exceptional Academics is a London-based private tutoring and educational consultancy company led by two former Heads of Departments. The company provides a wide range of services, including one-to-one private tutoring, academic assessments, exam preparation, and expert educational consultancy for parents seeking advice and guidance on school and university placements.
 
Role Description
This is a contract for an experienced, fully qualified and enhanced DBS checked English Teacher to join the team at EA, both as a tutor, teaching pupils in person or online, ranging in age from 7-18, and to teach a weekly class preparing children in Years 4 and 5 for the highly competitive 11+ examinations at a primary school in Southwest London.
 
In their role as one to one tutor, the suitable candidate will be expected to teach individuals for a minimum of 1.5 hours and to mark work and practice exam papers, which will be remunerated.
 
As a classroom teacher, the candidate will be expected to set up at 3.15pm each Thursday and to teach English and Verbal Reasoning to two classes of one hour each from 3.30-5.30pm at a primary school located in South-West London. In addition to teaching, regular marking of work will be expected to enable pupils to know how to improve and for parents to know how to help at home. Marking completed outside of teaching time will be remunerated. Termly reports will also need to be completed until Easter of Year 5, and thereafter, on a half termly basis up until the 11+ examinations.
 
The day-to-day tasks entail creating, planning and delivering outstanding and academically rigorous lessons; using the candidate's own personal teaching resources as well as those provided to them by EA; reporting on pupil progress regularly and communicating with parents and other staff members.
 
Qualifications
  • English classroom teaching experience
  • Experience in using an interactive white board to support learning
  • A background in education
  • Experience in creating lesson plans and teaching a diverse range of students/differentiating
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in English, Education, or related field
  • Experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) could be a plus
  • Experience with online teaching and the use of educational technology is certainly a plus
  • Teaching certification or qualification is a prerequisite
