Tuition, best one to one or in a group?

Postby Outnumbered123 » Thu Dec 07, 2023 6:37 pm

Thinking of getting some additional maths help for my son, aged 8. My question is whether to get him one on one tuition or whether to make use of one of the tuition centres like Mathnasium or Kumon? Has anyone tried both and could let me know how they compare? Thanks.

So far Mathnasium on northcote road has been an absolute joke of an organisation.
That was just the process of trying to enrol and do their assessment .

Disorganised, failing to get information right despite repeated corrections.
It’s loud in there and can’t see now kids can concentrate.

I think 1:1 is the better option.

I heard better things about Kumon but many children didn’t like the additional homework. Kids tire of it.

I offer 1:1 private tuition that is targeted and tailored to the individual. I have over 15 years experience, am DBS checked and work in a local Prep school. Please feel free to get in touch if I can be of any help.

At the Brainery, we offer both 1:1 and group tuition as different approaches suit different learners.  I'd be happy to chat to you about what might suit your son best.
