Lessar Avenue corrosive substance attack.

Postby HenryHoover » Thu Feb 01, 2024 9:01 am

Does anyone know any more about what happened last night on Lessar Avenue? What a horrific situation and involving children as well. Hope that everyone is getting great medical help and recovers well.

Please see the latest update from the BBC

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-engl ... n-68164010

Specifically, there is a request for 'any members of the public who saw what happened to call 10l, quoting reference CAD 7790/31 Jan, and urging local people and drivers to check their doorbell and dash cameras for any footage that might have captured a man fleeing the area.'

Our thoughts are with everyone involved in this terrible situation.

Given the suspect is at large and described as dangerous, I'm surprised I can't find a description of the attacker anywhere so the public can call it in. Has anybody seen this info?

@sidmeister - I haven't seen any description. Maybe once car and doorbell footage is reviewed one will be released?

One of the latest articles I've seen describes him as "short, white, wearing black clothes"

I was coaching at the nearby Clapham Common tennis courts, seemingly noticed a constant stream of police / ambulance sirens wailing from approx. 6.30pm onwards. Then saw across the Common from a cluster of PARKED blue flashing lights and realised there was some incident.

When I got home AFTER 8.30, first headline I spotted was from BBC via "X" (formerly Tweets!) with time-date stamp 25 minutes ago. The whole story was rather vague and sketchy then, but potnetial allusion to:

"corrosive substance", "horrific incident" at Lessar Avenue, Lambeth
a traffic collision "with a man assaulting occupants in a car"....

The latest on "X" seems to be more affirmative corrobotive news from unverified Twitter user with name of perpetrator:

Update from your local neighbour-hood tennis coach with first-hand and second-hand information: Krishna

My heart is absolutely shattered by this horrific event. As a mother of two girls in similar ages I am terrified for them.
Has any immediate family stepped forward to create a gofundme collection?
I can't imagine how difficult of a time the whole family must be going through. Surely so many in our community must feel helpless and want to kick in to secure them some small token to help them thru recovery?

I suggested a Go Fund Me on Nextdoor, in response to a request for dash cam footage etc, but it was suggested this could make the victim a target.
But do hope as a community we can help. With little information about the victim and her condition, it’s difficult to know how.
If anyone does know more, please let the community know how best to help.
Drawing inferences on the fact they were known to each other, I wonder if she was fleeing domestic violence, or being punished for leaving a relationship.
