Perfume for a teenager?

Postby Mary Quant » Thu Apr 04, 2024 5:53 pm

My teenage goddaughter has asked for some perfume or makeup for her birthday. She is probably quite new to this sort of thing and hasn't asked for anything specific. Could anyone with teenage daughters suggest a make up brand or perfume that would be suitable? I was thinking of Jo loves which I think is a younger Jo Malone scent. Any ideas very welcome!

For proper perfume I’d get Miss Dior, the girls love it and it has a very pretty bottle that’s all over tiktok.

For an every day scent the girls all wear Sol De Janeiro.

Make-up, check out Glossier, Elf, Rare Beauty and Charlotte Tilbury.

I agree with the above, my teenager (14) wears Sol De Janeiro and says that all her friends wear it. There are a few different colours they come in with different fragrances but they are definitely the in thing especially for the younger end of the teen market. You can purchase it in Space NK. Glossier is gorgeous too.

Another vote for Miss Dior perfume - it has a very light and floral fragrance.

Also highly recommend Boots No7, Elf, Collection and Rimmel make up brands.

Thanks so much. I have ordered some Sol De Janeiro as that one seems more generic but will keep Miss Dior in mind for another time.

Thanks so much for all of your sugestions. Hugely appreciated!

Hi OP
You sont say if she loves near you or i dont know if it would be possible, but the best gift of all is time - quality time.
Perfumes and scents are so personal, and bring so much emotions , than perhaps you should take this opportunity to spend the day/half day with her so she can choose her scent and / or make up. And you get to spend time with her.
I have just spend a day with my 13.5 and 15 yrs old daughters to buy some make up and frankly it s been quite some time we hadnt such a wonderful time filled with laughter and togetherness. As parents of teenagers, we know how precious and far betweeb those days are 🤣

I love this suggestion!
As a teenager I had received some perfume from a well-meaning aunt&uncle couple which I totally disliked...
If going shopping together could be an option, I would recommend L'Occitane: not aimed specifically at teens, but lots of fragrances for all tastes, and you could match perfume with body lotions, shower gel, etc. My no-long-teenage niece used to have an Eau the Toilette from them, can't remember which one.
