I left Eaton House Schools and Opened a Mental Health Clinic for Teens

Postby Learn2LiveYouthClinic » Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:48 am

During lockdown, I nearly lost my youngest son to suicide. A stranger intervened and saved his life.  The ensuing challenge of finding appropriate care to support him inspired me to set up a clinic to help teens (14-17) who are suffering with their mental health.  This terrible situation, alongside my lifelong career in education management (I was formerly the owner and principal of Eaton House Schools), including being a safeguarding lead and being a mother to four sons have all provided experience and motivation for this project.

Learn 2 Live Youth Clinic takes a highly individualised approach to treat a variety of conditions.  We have a multidisciplinary team – including psychologists, psychotherapists, family therapists, youth coaches, dieticians, art and music therapists and sports coaches who work together to provide each teen with the tools, strategies and life skills that lead to strong mental health and wellbeing, through individual and group sessions.

If you are concerned about your teen’s mental health or behaviour, we are here to help.  If they are reluctant or refusing to attend school, we are here to help.  If your child is on a CAMHS waiting list or weekly therapy isn’t helping as much as you hoped, we are here to help.

We are offering a residential programme which runs Monday to Friday, usually for between 2 and 6 weeks for optimal results.  In the New Year our programme will be available on a 7-day per week basis, and the core programme is 6 weeks in duration.

If you know any teens for whom intervention would be of benefit, please call our lovely admissions team on 01264 594646 or visit our website www.learn2liveyouthclinic.com

You’ve got this.  We’ve got you

A desperately needed resource, this must have been a huge amount of work to set up and sadly there will be many considering your services, providing they can afford them....

I have just posted my Chamber Choir concert on 9th December in Balham: we are doing a retiring collection for Young Minds young peope's mental health charity, with this exact need in mind

Do PM me if you think we could collaborate in any way, but also to let you know that we are keen to raise more for this very underfunded cause.
(Although I am a Balham based choral singer, I am also a Wandsworth GP with a different professional name)

I am so sorry to read about your experience and what you, your family and your son have been through. I hope he is feeling better and stronger.

But I wanted to thank you for such a wonderful initiative. Very sadly there are not enough places to look after our children and it is a much needed resource.

Thank you for the kind words, unfortunately our clinic is just a drop in the ocean of what is truly needed but we hope to alleviate some of the pressure.

Thank you so much for setting up this well needed resource for our young people. My son who is now 14 went through this age 11/12 and wanted to end his life. He is in a much better place now and is in an alternative provision. My daughter however, is suffering and cannot attend school, the waitlist for camhs is currently two years and she is isolating herself more. I know so many families that are suffering and I would love to support you any way i can xx Thank you

It seems that Learn 2 Live Clinic's attempt to make money out of mental health issues in young people (c£50,000 for a 10 week "course" - hardly a charity) ended in dismal failure as the company went into administration having never really got going. Failing to obtain CQC approval is not a good start.
