Fertility Seminars with the Poundbury Clinic

Postby penniel » Mon Nov 14, 2011 5:19 pm

The Poundbury Clinic is running a series of half day fertility seminars starting in December which will give women an expert overview of their reproductive potential. There are talks from a specialist gynecologist, an acupuncturist and a nutritionalist that examine lifestyle and health as well as natural and assisted contraception. For further information see http://www.fertilityretreats.co.uk/seminar.php

Other options too...?

Postby Chucka » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:03 pm

I am not a professional in this field and having nothing personal to gain butI have some recommendations to anyone wishing to conceive

We have been trying to have a baby for a few years now. I have had blood tests done on the NHS which have resulted as normal and private tests done which have shown my levels to be sub-normal. There are also other blood tests such as AMH tests - which are not NHS funded but which are a good indicator. I believe that had I not been given false reassurance from the NHS that all was well - I could have taken action and not have miscarried my baby.
So I do think private blood tests can be a better way to go.

I really feel assisted conception/ IVF is not a good option and I believe it should not be offered on the NHS. A baby is not a commodity that we have a right to. In IVF and other methods of assisted conception fertilised embryos are actually selected and others disposed of/stored. I do not believe we have a right to create and destroy life. Couples can find their relationship breaks down because the whole thing is so centred on wanting a baby regardless of the means - love gets squeezed out.

I would say I am finding Duofertility to be a very good device to indicate fertility. They are pro-active also about contacting you regarding patterns they notice and possible tests that you should consider. They have equal or better success rates as IVF but without the intrusive ethical dilemmas

Lately I have been recommened to take a food allergy test by Cambridge Nutritional Sciences as this may be a causal factor in sub-fertility.

I also believe Lifefertilitycare and Naprofertility.co.uk have helped many couples not only to conceive naturally but to ensure the best chances of ensuring baby makes it to term! They can give good advise about blood tests and can refer patients to have them taken privately.

I feel like it's taken me a long while to find out a few things I wish I'd known years ago. We persevere in hope but if it is to be that we won't experience the joy of holding our own baby I am sure life will continue to bring purpose and joy our way . It has done so far! Good Luck to everyone.

Re: Fertility Seminars with the Poundbury Clinic

It's always useful to get information from as many different clinics as possible so that you can make the best choice for treatment and location. Ask clinics you're considering if they have open days (the Lister and others offer this) and don't be shy about asking questions. I'd suggest treating the web with some caution as forums and other people's opinions aren't always helpful.

If you're interested in HypnoFertility (hypnotherapy to support your journey to conception, whether natural or through treatment) then I'm always happy to answer questions - please feel free to call me on 07963 046 456 for a confidential chat.

I'm a hypnotherapist specialising in fertility, pregnancy and birth and work with many of London's leading fertility clinics. My practices are in Herne Hill and Harley St and just a few hypnotherapy sessions can make a huge difference to how women/couples feel about their situation by reducing stress and bringing in a positive outlook. Many years of working in the field, including at the Zita West Clinic, have allowed me to develop a unique way of supporting women on their journey.

Wishing you all the best, Kristin
