Help with Kitchen colour!

Postby moops » Sun Nov 22, 2009 8:50 pm

Hello

I'm wanting to paint the walls in our kitchen as we have recently painted our kitchen cabinets a buttery yellow colour, so now the current colour walls don't go at all!

I'm rubbish at putting colours together but I'm thinking of a chalky sage green or a light grey? We have terracotta colour tiles and similar coloured tiles on the benches, plus it is a small kitchen so I'm wanting to keep it light. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi there, re your kitchen colour I could probably help as I do alot of interior styling for friends and friends of friends. I would keep it light and not introduce another colour as it may make everything a little busy as you say your kitchen is quite small. You could try a few shades paler than your cabinet colour. If that is too dull an option, I would pop along to The Paint House on Northcote Road with the colour you have painted your cabinets and ask for their advice. They are really good in there. Good Luck.

]You can never go wrong with white! there are loads of different options ie chalk white, which is slightly warmer, and looks great anywhere in my opinion (I have it in my kitchen)

Farrow and Ball (( http://www.farrow-ball.com/categorylist.aspx?cid=P" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )) do some lovely chalky colours, you can get a description, colour cards and samples online. I've used Light Blue, Parma Grey, Elephants Breath and Off White and been pleased with all of them.

Thanks NT I have heard that Farrow and Ball do some really nice colours, I'll check it out!

Thanks for all your responses! I was thinking of white but the doors that lead out to the garden from the kitchen are white so I think it would look too weird.

Hi there,

I run a decorating company- "Paint the Town Green". we have our own colour chart of environmentally friendly paint; great colours and all without any toxic fumes or nasty paint smell. I'm sure we've got a colour for your walls that will match your cupboards. If you pop along to our site: http://www.paintthetowngreen.biz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and drop me an e-mail with your address, i'll put a chart in the post to you.
