Personal chef recommendation/cancer recovery

Postby juabbeville » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:46 am

Hi everyone,

I am recovering from my cancer treatment and am too tired to cook healthy meals myself. I am thinking to hire a personal chef who can cook healthy meals few times per week. Not sure if anyone knows a personal chef? Many thanks. Julia

Every good wish for your recovery Julia.

I don't know of a personal chef I'm afraid (I'm sure someone will!), but have you considered the delicious meals by Cook? http://www.cookfood.net/

They are so delicious and use ingredients you would find at home in your cupboard. Easy to prepare as you just bung them in the oven. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Anyway, just a thought.

Happy Christmas x

julia:

sorry to hear you are unwell - but it is fantastic that you are making eating well a priority, as it can really make a difference in your recovery.

i run a cooking school in sw11, and work with many different chefs each week. my kitchen is fully hygiene rated, and we would be able to tailor a menu for your specific needs.

if you would like to have a chat about your requirements, just give me a call. or go to the cooking school website

www.authenticethnic.co.uk

and send me an e-mail.

i wish you all the best in your continuing recovery, and great hopes for the new year.

sincerely,

I hope you are recovering well, and that you feel much better and more energetic soon.

In the meantime, I second the suggestion of the Cook meals. They're really nice, flavourful, well-prepared, relatively healthy depending on what you get, not at all like other frozen food, and there's a huge variety. My husband and I find the portions slightly small (and they aren't super-cheap, although they are very good value for the money). We often add an extra can of chickpeas or other beans to some of them, to stretch them out a bit. Just empty the defrosted meal into a saucepan, add the beans and simmer for 20min with a little extra liquid. The coq au vin with white beans works well, as do all the tagines with chickpeas. With a bit of rice or pasta you're set. From the website it looks like they deliver. The organic store on Balham High Road has a large selection, too.

All the best.

Hi Julia

I have used a fantastic company, called Pure Package, several times over the past two years, after seeing one of their adverts in a local magazine. They are a gourmet meal delivery service, based in New Covent Garden Market. Basically, they deliver your meals, and snacks for the day, to your front door in a cool bag. They are really flexible- you can select which days you do and don't need meals for. The food is freshly prepared, really healthy and delicious.

Their web site is http://www.purepackage.com

You can sign up for your deliveries online, but I'd definitely recommend phoning them to discuss your needs. I've always found them really helpful, and they'll be able to recommend the right package for you.

I send you my very best wishes for a good and fast recovery x

Dear Julia,
I very much hope that your recovery is going well, and eating healthy food is definitely a good idea.
I run my own catering company based in Battersea, SW11. I would absolutely love to prepare fresh, home made meals for you, as often as you need them. I could put together a meal plan for you, or just do ad-hoc deliveries. I am hugely flexible and will work within your requirements.
My website is www.scarlettspantry.co.uk
Please do email me on scarlett@scarlettspantry.co.uk
Best wishes
Scarlett
