Looking for an electrician

Postby SabineMum » Thu Dec 01, 2011 11:05 pm

Hello,

I'm looking for an electrician to change all the switches in our house. Can anyone recommend someone good (obviously :D ) and reliable.

Thank you!

Hi Sabine Mum

Can absolutely recommend Richard and Greg at Clapham Builders who just get on with jobs quietly, without any fuss or mess and always turn up ontime. They are also very decent blokes and cheap which always helps!

Give them a call on 07852 991867.

Len Worrall is reasonably priced and does a good job. He's on 07802 713068. He tells me he is often finding poor quality electrics in homes when the owner has gone for the 'cheap' option so just be careful when you make your decision.
Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Yes that's a fair point about "cheap" and I only mentioned it as they were less than half the price another local outfit quoted and did a great job.

Like the first reply, I strongly recommend Richard and Greg from Clapham builders. Richard is the owner of the business - he is very well organised and efficient. Also his charges are very reasonable. Try him and you won't regret!

Back in august I called Richard for a quote to carry on a complete refurb on a 2 beds flat of clapham north side. He came yes but v late (was delayed for about 3hrs and failed to contact me while someone was waiting at the flat - I have contacted him after waiting for about 45min), he gave us half a quote eventually (after much chasing on my part) he gave us the rest of the quote and then out of the blue told us he could no longer carry on the work and we were left back to square one.

Now I understand he might have someone who turned up straight away with a deposit for him to start a job, I could also have understood if he didnt want to do the work in the end for any given reason that would have been personal to him if I were told. Not only he was late and didnt have the courtesy to call (again totally understand that things happen but if told again) but gave us the inpression of being totally unprofessionnal in the way he carried out the quotation and then letting us down.

I am sure it is a one off and everybody is allowed mistakes, I just felt I had to give my experience so you are aware that this can happen before you give him a call.
It was for the better as I found an excellent builder, old school and EXCELLENT plasterer to do our work. I will recommend him as soon as the job is finished.

Thank you all for your recommendations. I had in fact contacted Richard before seeing the latest comment. So far so good. His quote is very competitive and he was able to arrange (and rearrange) an appointment very quickly. The work is still to be done but I will post again when it is completed as feedback in case anyone else needs similar work done in future.

Thank you again!

You could try Ken Williams from Armadillo Electrics. He's very punctual and reliable and good value. His number is 07747 450188.
