Children's shoes near Balham

Postby Joe's Mum » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:20 am

First I discover that the Clarks store in Southside has closed. Then the shoe shop in Wimbledon Village. Then the shoe shop on Bedford Hill. Where do other Balhamites so to buy shoes for their children?

I think that it has to be Northcote Road. One Small Step One Giant Leap or Trotters - not as big a selection but still some choice. Sad the one on Bedford Hill has closed I agree - hope that the toy shop that is now in its place fares better? :)

There is a Clarks shop on St Johns' Road, Clapham Junction. Other than that, Northcote Rd is always a good bet.

I also go to One Small Step on Northcote Road as you can also look in the Clarks in CJ.
Or there is a huge Clarks in Colliers Wood which has good parking etc.
There is a really nice little kids shoe shop called Hoads on Allfarthing Lane in Wandsworth too.

Being a bit of a cheapskate, or rather being appalled at the idea of forking out £40 regularly for shoes for my rapidly growing son's feet, I usually get measured at Clarks and then look on eBay for shoes in the size they tell me. There's always loads to choose from in the right size, and you can get shoes for £3, sometimes barely worn at all.

But like I say, I'm a bit of a cheapskate...

Hoad's on Allfarthing Lane opened last year and has a good selection including some Clarks shoes.

Hi all
There is a clarks in Wimbledon on the Broadway and there is also a new shop in Jitterbugs called Lillifoot (http://www.jitterbugsplaycafe.co.uk/). We also use the Clarks in Colliers Wood....

Good Luck!

Hi, Hoads on ALfarthing Lane (just off Garratt Lane, Sw18) are a great local business - an independent and great customer service. We've been buying our kids shoes there now since they opened. Worth the trip as they always have special offers/sales on and also good to support a local company.

Happytoes are reopening at the end of the month, but I don't know of the location. Hopefully still local.

Not very near to Balham... But if you go to Putney, there's a branch of One Small Step in the Exchange shopping Centre, as well as the local independent store Pied Piper just around the corner on the Upper Richmond Road. Both excellent. And there's a Clarks too if needed

clarks wherever they may be, one small step (who should sell all of their shoes in black as well as other colours) and Peter Jones. It is difficult though.
I want girls school shoes with a rubber toe.
Can they be so hard to find?
