Do you know of a page boy outfit seamstress?

Postby mumtoafew » Mon Feb 13, 2012 10:25 pm

My sister is getting married in early May and my son (2 1/2) is a page boy. Her husband (to be) is in the military so my son may well end up in a a small army uniform, or at least a very traditional page boy outfit. There are some lovely outfit makers in Wiltshire etc, but wonder if anyone knows of a local seamstress who could make something for us quickly, well and professionally?

Sure someone will suggest something but you could ask in the sewing/ craft shop on Balham high road- they know everything there is to know about sewing and I'm sure they'll know local seamstresses. Good luck!

I used this lovely seamstress to make all the page and bridesmaids outfits for our wedding. www.genevievedesigns.co.uk She was totally charming - very reliable and great with the kids. Her clothes were beautifully made and good value (for bespoke silk outfits!) She may be able to help.

I used Genevieve too for my page boy outfits a year ago. She's fab and her outfits were perfect.
I would highly recommend her.

Hi, I come from a military family and married a military man. We had uniformed page boys at our wedding and my son has since been one at my nrother's wedding. In both cases, the regiments concerned held a stock of the uniforms and I just had to give a load of measurements and the best fitting ones were sent over to me. Maybe 3 Para is different but you should certainly get your brother in law 2B to check with the QM before you get one made. Failing that, you can be sure he isn't the first 3 Para to have uniformed page boys so he should ask around all the married officers to ask if they have their own version you can borrow. If you are having one made, you should really go to a specialist military tailor (your bro in law will know which one specialises in his regiment) as the army are obviously sticklers for detail when it comes to uniforms and if it is not "just right" there will be comments. Good luck!
