Travelling with car seats and buggies

Postby FromNYCtoBalhamMum » Wed Apr 25, 2012 9:27 am

Hi

We are going on holiday next week and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get extra large clear plastic bags to cover the car seats. We are going to check them in and I don't want them to get dirty and disgusting as the rest of our luggage often does. We are flying on Easy Jet and they don't provide the bags.
What do others do with car seats and buggies when flying?
Thanks.

The last time I flew with car seats I bought one of the really large, checked laundry bags you can buy for about £2.99. It was great. One
of the handles broke on the bag but other than that our two car seats arrived clean and intact. I'd definitely do the same again.

does it need to be clear? whats wrong with a bin liner? or maybe B&Q builders sack sort of thing if the clear thing is a security thing?

I used a black garden waste bag (slightly bigger than a bin liner) for our car seat. I put an extra one or 2 in there to use on the way back. Car seat arrived in pristine condition.
Our pushchair is a light colour (it was cheaper than more practical darker colour) so I bought a bag off Amazon for it. It's a Sunshine Kids car seat bag but it actually fits our pushchair and even had room to put in a packet of nappies and our coats, freeing up precious room in my suitcase for those clothes that I need to take but probably won't wear :D . The bag won't fit all types of pushchair so check dimensions carefully before purchasing, mine's a Baby Jogger city mini.
