Summer of 2012- What is there to do?!

Postby Soriano » Thu Jun 07, 2012 6:46 pm

We are moving in to our new home between the commons in July and are wondering what activities we can sign up our 5 & 3 year olds for over the summer- swim lessons? Soccer (sorry, football!) camp? arts & crafts clubs? We're open to anything/everything. Just don't want to miss the deadlines!

Hi there,

We also live Between The Commons and have a 3 yr old daughter-I am pregnant so also want to sign her up for some fun Summer activities!

We will definitely be doing some Playball camps:

http://www.playballlondon.com/site/cont ... lidayCamps

And some Art Barn Workshops:

http://www.artbarnclasses.com/holiday_workshops/

Neither of those have released their Summer dates yet. My daughter has been to both of these before, (including this half term) and LOVED them!

I believe Mouse House Nursery are running a Summer school with lots of different activities each day, but priority will be given to children already attending and their siblings (my daughter doesn't go there) so I am going to try and get her in but I suspect there may not be space-PM me if you'd like the email and details of this...

I think Julian the Tennis Coach runs Summer camps and will post on here (sports related but think also arts and crafts too for younger ones?) I'm sure he will post in due course-we may well try that....

South West Swim School:

http://www.swswimschool.co.uk/

do intensive holiday courses-I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what their availability is like...

Hope that helps! And do PM me if you'd like to meet up as we have a child the same age! We are just off Northcote Rd.

Also just found this:

Your 3 year old is too young, but looks good for the 5 yr old!

Has anyone tried the Wandsworth holiday play scheme ? They run all day which is good for working parents like me. I know of the other camps quoted above but haven't heard any feedback on this one. It is run by the council and when I called, they were lovely, but would be keen to hear from people who have sent their children there before.

thank you

Does anyone have any ideas of stuff going on for younger kids, other than the usual places to visit (farms, parks etc) I have a 2 year old and 10 month old. Thanks!

SUMMER BALLET WORKSHOPS
THE FIREBIRD
This summer Ecole de Danse Balham is offering inspirational Ballet Workshops for children aged : 4 – 5 ½ yrs and 6 – 8 yrs old.
Introducing a Ballet Russe theme, the workshops will be based on the enchanting production of ‘The Firebird’.
Boys and girls will have fun discovering what goes in to putting on a real ballet. This would include daily dancing, costume making, learning how to tell a story through ballet, its relation to music and how a ballet production would be presented in a Theatre.
The workshops would culminate in a small ‘production’ for friends and family to watch.
The Summer Ballet Workshops will be located in the beautiful Heaver Studio in Balham and will take place twice;
24th, 25th, 26th July 2012
28th, 29th, 30th August 2012
9.30am – 12.30pm: 4 – 5 1/2yrs old and 1:30pm-4:30pm: 6 – 8 yrs old
£120 for 3 days inclusive of daily snacks and props for the production.
