I had a little baby boy 3 weeks ago and he is adorable. I am now desperate to lose some weight and get my figure back! Any ideas please!

Congratulations on the birth of your little boy.
I used a company called Ready Steady Mums to get back into shape when my little boy was born.

The website is readysteadymums.com, they are really good value for money and cater your program to exactly what works for you, taking into account how your birth went, what you like to do etc.

Not sure whereabouts you are, but they also run sessions on Wandsworth Common, King Georges Park and Garratt Park in Earlsfield.

I would definitely recommend them.

Hi there!

Many congratulations on your new arrival!

I am a Pilates Instructor who specialises in pre and post natal Pilates. I am also Mummy to a beautiful boy too!

Firstly, whatever exercise you plan to do, it's best to wait until you're 'signed off' by your midwife team - you usually have a check around 8 weeks (or somewhere between 6-12 weeks) with a doctor/nurse who will assess you and hopefully tell you everything is fine and you can begin exercising. Make sure they test the diastasis recti - this is how well your abdominal muscles have 'knitted' back together. Exercising with a large diastasis can cause damage to the muscles and give a 'pot belly' look! :?

Are you breast feeding? This is something to consider too as this can zap you of energy. Certain types of exercises can inhibit milk production so it's best to have a chat about it with someone in the field.

I'd be happy to give you a free consultation, if Pilates is something you would like to consider. I found it really helped bring my core muscles back post birth and tone up! I can also do the diastasis recti test for you. I teach 1:1 in the client's house - to fit around the client and their little one, or in group contexts. Message me if you'd like more details.

In the meantime, I found during the first few weeks, plenty of walking with the buggy and maintaining pelvic floor exercises was enough to begin shifting the weight. :)

good luck

xx

Wandsworth NHS commission some weight loss groups for mums which are delivered by specialist Dietitians and exercise instructors. The programmes are free :D and you don't have to attend every week - you just attend the classes when you can manage it! Babies can go along with you too so no need for a baby sitter!

The classess are lots of good fun and easy to fit into a new mummy's schedule (or lack there of ;) ) The programme is called 'New Mum New you' and run in lots of different places throughout Wandsworth. Give Mytime Health a call to find a group near you. Tel: 020 8323 1725

Hi,

I had a baby 4 months ago and i am finding Buggyfit amazing, Its on all the commons (i think) i go to Clapham common twice a week, from 10-11am.

There are an amazing group of Mum and we all have our babies with us, and go for coffee after.

Its reasonable price as well, i think if you book a course of 10 classes it's about £5 a class.

I highly recommend it.

I had my 2nd baby 5 months ago and I am now lighter than I have been in 10 years! I lost a stone and a half in 2 months using a mix of Jane Plan (http://www.janeplan.com/) and exercising with Fit For a Princess (http://www.fitforaprincess.co.uk/).

Jane Plan is fantastic, I was still breast feeding when I started doing it and they tailored a plan for me to make sure I was getting enough calories.

I'd also really recommend the Fit For a Princess bootcamps - it's amazing how much you can change your shape in two weeks.

Good luck!

Congratulations PollyB!

I run a diet delivery service which caters specifically for each client's needs. I know how hectic having a newborn baby can be, and my aim is to help my clients lose that excess weight safely, steadily and (most importantly) without any stress! Lots of our clients are breastfeeding mothers - many of whom are also NVN users!

We provide you with three calorie and portion-controlled meals (all suitable for breast-feeding mothers) a day for as long as you choose to stay with us. All our meals are based on what we know our clients like to cook & eat, with no added salt or preservatices and can be heated in the microwave in under three minutes.

If you'd like to know more, or would like to get in touch for a no-obligation chat please call me on 020 7998 6817 or email jane@janeplan.com.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck and best wishes!
Jane Michell.

I've thought several times about posting this but I feel I just have to... Your baby is three WEEKS old!!!!

Your body, life, sleep, hormones and everything is going to change on a weekly basis for a while now and I know it can be hard not having your old body back but please, please, please try to cut yourself some slack.

I hate the pressure put on new mums over everything, but especially body image. You just grew a human. You are amazing.

You old body will come back. These early months with your new son will not.

Not sure if it does but I do hope that helps...
