We really need a local shop that sells reasonably priced kids clothes so I hope they include a decent kids department!

Cheap toys for birthday presents would be a godsend too. 99p shop is good for a few bits and pieces, but the plastic toys don't tend to last more than 24 hours in my household.

I think the trick to TK Maxx is to be able to nip in regularly to get to the new deliveries. The one in CJ is so over used that there's rarely anything good. Tooting however...I recently got a great Fenn Wright Mason cardigan in there, and a paid of gorgeous brown leather wedge Michael Kors ankle boots.

So having it on our doorstep can only be a good thing - providing we're not all there at once and don't all have the same style! I like the point above about needing more in Balham than Oliver Bonas, much as I love it, will be great to be able to stay local for clothes shopping.

Frankly, anything that isn't another effing estate agent is more than welcome. :D

As we're talking savings, if anyone would like to know how to get shops like Sainsbury's, Argos, Boots & lots of others to help pay your mobile, phone and energy bills (and still get Nectar & Advantage points too!), text or call me on 07595 430 560 or email me at info@2mins.co.uk.

Does anyone know what is happening? There doesn't seem to have been any progress for a few weeks now...

I think they've probably had to wait for the concrete floor to dry
Website now says opening 2013

Update - it looks like it's not going to be a TK Maxx after all.

It's very odd that they're not fitting out the inside of the building though.

It's been empty and unworked on for months now.

There is a planning application currently being listed on Wandsworth website to knock down WHSmith and replace it with more new retail space on ground floor and leisure (gym?) on the first floor over all the retail space. I guess this may have delayed TKMaxx fit out for a while.

Re: TK Maxx in Balham-UPDATE!

Postby Ceecee1972 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 9:26 am

Bit sad, I know, I mean it's not like I haven't got better things to do (!) but I actually emailed TKMaxx in Feb (2013) asking for an update on what was happening as we are all keen to know ;-)... Their response was that plans were to still open a TK Maxx on the site but due to "technical issues" with the building they couldn't confirm when the opening date would be. Seems very strange as the rental opportunities must be enormous!!

According to Twitter (thank you Ms Cloo) it's going to be opening in September/October and that was a retweet from the Town Centre Manager of Balham.
