Boiler packed up this morning - brrrrr

Postby nvmof3 » Tue Jan 29, 2013 8:12 am

Jeremy Dunhill is too busy to come - any other recommendations? - Please no plugs of friends or yourself, I need to know about people you have used for boiler work who you thought were good and reasonably priced. Many thanks NVN-ers!

Try Jane Graham on 07908 959937. We recently used her to fix a tap that wouldn't get hot and she came within a day. She used to work for Pimlico Plumbers but has just set up on her own, so she's not as busy as some other people. She was recommended to me by Jeremy Dunill.

You have my sympathies. Our boiler packed up last Monday night and I had to wear my entire wardrobe to bed! We used my sister-in-law's neighbour in Tooting who happens to be a boiler specialist. Thank god really as none of the people available on my home insurance could come out in less than 2 days! He is called Martin Purvis and he was excellent. Came out on Monday night at 9pm; recognised the problem straightaway (broken pump) and came back the next day to fix it. All took 45 minutes or so. Reasonable too. His mobile is 07710 223 812. And his email is m.purvis1@btinternet.com. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted soon.

If you still need a plumber (although hope you have got it fixed by now,) Abbeville Plumbing and Heating were so good when we had problems with our boiler that I would highly recommend them and wouldn't use anyone else now!

Simon 07976 303802 or simon@abbevilleplumbing.com

Good luck!

Thanks NVN-ers for all the suggestions. I tried Jane Graham who came within 4 hours, established problem (broken fan), went to Balham to source the part, came back, fitted the part and the house was warm again before the children were home from school. Pretty reasonable I think - 2 hours labour at £60 per hour.
I would definitely use her again. She used to work with Pimlico Plumbers.
