I'd be interested too as I live in the Old Town and need to find somewhere in about 6 months' time.

I can't recommend this nursery highly enough. My daughtIer has been there for 18 months since just before she turned 1. Staff are truly caring and love children -- the key ingredient. My daughter now sings Spanish songs and plays make believe with her dolls using Spanish phrases. most of the children are not Spanish speakers, so the default in the playground is English, but most of the staff are Spanish speakers, so it is at least a true immersion experience. The facilities are excellent -- the outdoor space is one of the best I have seen in SW London. The new wooden equipment excites even me, an adult. Food is not organic, but they don't pretend it is. I'm not too bothered. The owners, Brian and Gloria are lovely.

I am seriously thinking of sending my child to the Anglo Spanish nursery as I found the staff incredibly friendly and caring. However, the OFSTED report for this nursery is pretty terrible (to put it mildly). How seriously should I take such reports? Does anyone have first hand experience with this nursery?

Our son goes to the ASN and, whereas we have had some problems, I think in general it is ok. The nursery itself and the garden play area are nice. The staff are nice but sometimes, being a non-Spanish speaker, I find it difficult to communicate with them as not everyone's English is of a very good standard. Let me know if there is something specific you'd like to know - off to read the Ofsted report now as I haven't seen it...

My son has been at the Anglo Spanish Nursery in Class 1 since last October-he started when he was 9 months old & the staff were so loving & caring it gave me confidence to go back to work. I was terrified about leaving my son with strangers & most of the nurseries I visited were staffed by bored teenagers. I'm so happy I chose the Anglo Spanish-the staff were so much more vibrant & fun & my son is thriving in their care. He attends 3 days a week which is a good balance for us both. The nursery has great facilities & the staff are caring & real rather than working to a corporate formula.
My son is a happy & confident little boy now & each day when i collect him I can see how much he enjoys his time their & how well he interacts with the staff.

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has been at Anglo-Spanish nursery for about a year and a half now and my 10 month old daughter for about 4 months and both of them absolutely love it there, they could not be happier. I really couldn't recommend it enough and I just don't understand how OFSTED could have rated them so poorly (I haven't read the report).
My older daughter used to be in another local nursery that we weren't too happy with (and that place does get a good OFSTED report) and because we are moving to Clapham South soon I've visited five (yes five!) other nurseries in the area and honestly nothing compares to ASN. The staff are so genuinely warm and enthusiastic and so great with the kids and Brian and Gloria do a fantastic job running the place. After a year and a half there they all feel like extended family now, we'll miss the place so much when we leave.
If you have any specific questions I'd also be happy to answer them!

Hello all!!
I am thinking my self to open a bilingual nursery in the area (still not sure where) It would be anglo spanish also.
I am quite surprised about you saying that the children attending this one in Clapham are not mainly from a spanish speaking family!
That means there is a growing interest for learning a new language since the early years in the area??
Do you think is a good idea opening something similar but in a nearby area??
Thanks

Hi

My son was in this nursery for 1.5 year (18 months to nearly 3 years old).
I first chose it for the price and location, but then I have been very happy with them, the staff is very good and kind with the children, they absolutely love children and there is a real warmth when you enter the nursery, probably the warmth from latin american people!
We had to change nursery because we relocated in Earlsfield and the current nursery is really disappointing compared to ASN.
They have also good facilities, nice premises, good outdoor space and it is one of the cheapest nursery I have ever found.
I think they don't have a good report only because OFSTED think the standard of English language is not sufficient for the staff caring for children aged 3 to 5. The level of non English native children may be a bit less than in other nurseries but isn't that a real advantage to have the basics of two languages when you start school?
We are actually a French family and have not been worried about this, on the contrary we were so proud when our son, when he was not even 2 years old, was able to count until 5 in French, English and Spanish.
I definitely recommend them.
