Commiserations to all those who did not get their choice of primary school. Just to say that by all means consider appealing but by law no infant class (ie children are 5, 6 or 7) can have more than 30 children . Thus unless there has been a mistake such as incorrect distance used, siblings rule over looked etc it is very very hard to win an appeal at this age. If you do decided to appeal make sure your argument is really powerful and aim to prove why a particular school is the best for your child. Distance/logistics hardly ever work nor do the fact that all your child's friends/neighbours are going to a particular school. You could consider social/health grounds if there is a separate admission criteria for the school but your case will have to be very very strong eg mother cannot ever physically walk to school so school needs to be very close for grandmother to help with school run . In such a case medical letters would need to be produced etc and you should keep hold of a copy of everything you submit.

Make sure you are on every waiting list for every school you would consider and do not assume this is automatically done for you , keep checking every 2 weeks or so where you are on the list - there will be considerable movement between now and the summer and if you still do not have a place in September keep on the waiting lists until a place comes up.

Good luck
