is a holiday nanny the key to a relaxing holiday?

Postby Georgie_LikeMinders » Tue Jun 18, 2013 9:35 am

All mums know that going on holiday can sometimes be like home away from home with the same daily chores and children to chase after just in another location! This is why we recommend making childcare one of your priorities. You can relax and put your feet up knowing that your little ones are in safe hands. We have some fantastic holiday nannies on our books, many ofthem are teachers looking for holiday work, they are all CRB checked, over 21 and we've met every single one to ensure our standards remain very high. Contact us today and make sure your next holiday is a real holiday. www.likeminders.co.uk

Surely the key to a relaxing holiday is to spend the time with your children as a family ?
Do we all try to abdicate too much resposibility already ?

I disagree with the above poster. It also depends on how you see your children on a daily basis anyway. I am a stay at home mum and so my children see me all the time. When we have gone away we have used a creche, the children have seen us in the morning for breakfast, morning swimming etc and then when the sun is getting hot they have gone into a creche and been more than happy to be around new little people, the place where all the toys are and the air conditioning to keep them cool. Seen us again at lunchtime again for swimming fun stuff and then gone back for a couple of hours in the afternoon.
I don't see any issues with it. I think it is a different story if you palm them off all day every day.....but everyone needs a holiday!

I agree with bumpontheway.

I stay at home full time and when 1 of them is on school holidays he gets sick of the sight of me! I've just booked a holiday with a crèche and think they'll love it.

With Tots Too, you can book a local nanny to help out for a couple of hours each day at your resort (saving you flying over and accommodating a UK nanny).
You can still spend masses of family time together, but just treat yourself to a bit of me-time to recharge your batteries.
Just ask the Tots Too team about 'Nanny Too' options: 020 7284 3344 ;)

Wouldn't want the darlings spending too much time with their Daddy, who usually only sees them weekends. Quality time, great memories or strangers and good air conditioning - you decide. Enjoy your holidays.

I've personally needed different things at different times and sometimes all at the same time.

After a period of stay at home I wanted a break (sort of indulgent but seeing as we're sharing)

Having been all hands to the deck at work I needed a break and couldn't get enough of my children all in one go.

My other half always needs a bit of a break and then can't get enough of the children. No shame in having to charge your batteries.

An extra pair of hands (if you can afford them) is simply a great help in giving you and your family the holiday it needs.

Each to their own on this subject :D

I take my hat off to you livegreen if you never need a babysitter and manage to spend 365days a year with your kids without a break!
For me, using a crèche or nanny for a few hours on holiday gives us a good balance - me & hubby time get some rare time to ourselves and I've always thought happy parents = happy kids! Try it - you might like it ;)

Livegreen, I see you have used babysitters in the past (hypocrite)
How does one feel about this? Living it up in a restaurant when poor darling is having a nightmare at home, mummy is having one glass too many....Babysitter trying to console little one but doesnt really know completely how?

What's more important livegreen, that night away from your darlings just so mummy and daddy can eat and drink well (living it up) or at home being there for your child?
Enjoy your night out!

I would never ever dream of bringing a nanny on holiday. I miss my little girl every day while I work (can't afford not to sadly) and can't wait to spend a whole week/fortnight with her.

@bumpontheway
The OP is about holiday nanny service, nothing to do with babysitting so not sure why you feel the need to start calling people names.
My point is that holidays represent one of the few times in a year when families can spend real time together. Children grow up so quickly. Most children, regardless of background, benefit from being in the company of their parents as much as possible and due to our working lives it's not always possible.
I agree with live and let live so will leave it at that

I need to bring someone to do chores rather than the kids... b

We usually go away without them once a year (for a few days or a week)... what kind of mother does that make me...

Everyone needs a break sometimes, there's nothing wrong with going away without the kids and leaving them with grandparents because that's family. but I just feel that if you go away with them why not actaully spend time with them!
