Good baby swimming pools / classes

Postby vq1234 » Sun Jul 07, 2013 10:03 am

Hi there
Does anyone know of any good pools for baby swimming classes or just good to take an 8 week old baby for the first time? We know they should be 32 degrees or more and were going to take baby today but unfortunately our local pool is only 29 degrees. Do any of the Virgin Active gyms in the area have baby pools?
Where would you take an 8 week old?
Ideally Tooting/Balham but could travel to Wimbledon.
Thanks so much

I would definitely recommend London Baby Swim in Wandsworth. It's a new, purpose built facility, which is used purely for baby/toddler lessons. The facilities are kept meticulously clean. Check out our recent blog for more details and some top tips on how to make the most of the lessons. http://babyjumble.com/blog/

Try Trinity Hydro pool. Tom offers a range of classes & Margaret is fab, best teacher that we have come across. Much better than Water Nippers or London Baby Swim where we are now.

Yes, if you go to Trinity definitely get Margaret. Much better than their other teacher.

Putney leisure centre has a small baby pool - lovely and warm - and a free car park.

Thanks so much all. We took him to Wimbledon North Rd Virgin Active yesterday as discovered they have a specific baby & kids pool which was 32 degrees. Fun as a one off but for lessons it is a choice between Wandsworth & Trinity. Also, my husband feels 8/9 weeks is too young for lessons, what are your thoughts? I was thinking we could spend the summer getting him used to water then start the lessons in around October when he'll be 5 months.

I agree with your husband, get your LO used to the water over the Summer & then start lessons in the Autumn.

Happy Swimming :)
