@Twice as nice: i have received an answer from Craig regarding your handles and he said "We just build it out slightly so it sits proud of the handles". Hope this help.

@Schnitzel: i am at work and don't have the quote. I ll post the details later.

Thanks for sharing Supergirl. The Velux blinds are pretty good value and work really well and although I want to blackout my son's room as much as possible it can't be at any price. Was the price ok?

I ll post the price when at home because the figure I have in my mind reflect a lot of other stuffs.

As I said earlier, for me it was good value for money: i have 100% black out when down and 100% light when up (instead of having to remove everyday the black plastic fixed with blu tack  Plus they will last a lifetime.

Just to be precise this is not VELUX, it is like a velux blind (with a black out blind within a frame) but it is not this brand.

So i checked and i paid just over £200 for a window but quite big and a bit more for a very large one. Totally worth it now with the light in the morning and evening because they say "why are we going to bed it s not dark outside" and in less than a sec i can now say "yes but it s dark in your room so night night i ll see you in the morning" 8-)

(And my windows are now blu tack free!)

I think that's £200 very well spent!

Read this thread with great interest as I too have been trying to find the perfect blackout solution for sash windows for some time. I contacted Craig who was on his way to the airport on hols and he sent me some photos but I still can't really make out how they would work on our very typical Victorian sashes. Would anyone who has had them fitted be prepared to let me see them? Thanks in advance, Hazel.

Hazel

i would love to but my house is currently a bomb site with all the works we are doing (and all the mess), should be clearer around mid to end of june, so email me around that time if you are still looking (although the windows on which they are fitted are not sash as they are new and in the loft --> I put the kids all the way at the top 8-) ).

The blind frame will be fitted i think on the straight bit of the sash architrave if that makes sense so when down it would cover the frame but would give you 100% black out.

Call Craig and pop in in his shop he ll explain to you and maybe draw you a little sketch?

Good luck

Or you could just get a simple £10 black out blind from Ikea... Works a treat ;)

Hi Supergirl - OMG this is exactly what I posted a couple of months ago looking for!!! Sadly I had to go for a velcro hand made version - but this is brilliant!! I may just have to pay twice for something that actually works. A sleep consultant had told me they exist but I couldn't find them anywhere.

Thank you so much!

You are most welcome Biscuit Brown ;)

Could you Ebay the velcro ones? I know not easy because of the dimensions but might be worth a try?

Good idea - worth a go! They weren't expensive anyway. My husband can't believe I'm so excited about blackout blinds, but with a 19 month old that barely sleeps through the night and another one due any second now this has made my day! :D

Thanks for the contact for Craig...he has just installed some beautiful curtains in our new loft bedroom over a folding sliding door and in a very tight space that had to be bespoke to work. I was also on a tight budget and he managed to come up with a solution of reducing some fabric without compromising look.

He will be installing roller blinds over our 2 sets of folding doors in the kitchen and a large full length window...we needed a very minimalist look so struggling with off the shelf options.

You were right, Craig has some great solutions to difficult window dressing so thanks for sharing.
